Mahindra 2538 HST 4WD (Drive shaft)

Need information on removing and inspecting drive shaft (from rear drive to front axle). Any and all information is appreciated. I suspect either shaft gears or collars are damaged. TIA

In two wheel drive, with front wheels off ground, when turning either wheel there is a sound, like bad bearings, but when mechanically shifting front collar on shaft, noise goes away. In four wheel drive front wheels do not engage.

It does seem there is a spun a drive shaft gear. Rattling in the front can also be caused by broken ring tooth gearing but you’d have front drive propulsion. The noise goes away when engaged because you have no gear tooth connection.

From how l read the shop manual, it states “non serviceable”. This means the entire ring and pinion gear set is replaced as a unit.
