As usual I fat fingered the comment. I meant 120 gallon tanks, but then I also suspect you knew that. Being 74, I sometimes need some slack.

In reality, twin 120's are median sized tanks. Some of the trucks in the fleet had twin 150's.
We were just having some fun, if we didn't bust your chops occasionally who would?

Have no clue about the capacity of a HHO truck. No one around here uses HHO. It's all either Nat Gas or propane if the Nat Gas isn't available. Used to be a few homesteads with electric heat but that went away long ago. Resistance heating is way too costly to heat with.

I started 50 years ago at 11 on a '42 Ford GPW(wwii war production Ford version of the Willy's MB jeep).

My favorite stick was Eaton 10spd behind a Detroit 8V92T in a GMC Topkick Water Tender for the fire dept. Otherwise have done 3spd on the floor, 3 on the tree, 4spd, granny 4spd, 5 and 6 speeds.

For traffic and commuting, an auto is great. For loader work, HST is great. For the rest a manual is great.

Just worked out that have autos at the moment.

My first car was a hand me down Subaru DL with all of 83 cubic inches. A 4 speed manual with cable that connected the clutch pedal to the throw out yoke. Cables lasted about 60K miles and would break. Drove home more than once using no clutch. As I was arriving at light, where traffic stopped, I would take it out of gear and coast to light. Turn of engine and engage first or second gear. Restart car while in gear, making sure I had plenty of room between me and car in front, and then proceed to rev match until next stop. Became good enough that I, for fun, would practice rev matching even when clutch cable was functioning.

My second car was a Dodge Polara, 383 cubic inches with dual quad cross ram induction, with 3 speed push button automatic located to left of steering wheel on the dashboard.

Most recently a 3 speed no syncromesh manual and cone clutch made from leather on a 4000 pound car. Max engine rpm is approx 1500 so up and down shifts are relatively each to match. Massive straight cut brass gears in transmission

Ultrarunner, does that ring any bells?

Not an E-M-F but one that existed on both sides of the pond and bodied by Brewster.

I'm curious as to your other experiences with pre war marques.

Learned to drive a stick on a VW bug then ordered a new 79 bronco with the 4speed with a granny 1st. Manual trucks starting with an 83 ranger all the way up to a '98 f250. I then bought an 01 f250 with an auto in 2011 because I couldn't find a good used one with the 6 speed. I still have it and with only 92k with the 7.3 it should last as long as me.
I do still drive a 2012 focus with a 5 speed to work and get almost 39 mpg on the computer. 165K on it and I need 1 more year out of it before retirement. Still the original clutch.

Our last manual vehicle was our 2017 Jeep Renegade. My wife insisted on getting a manual. When that got totalled in an accident about a year ago it just didn't make sense to get another manual vehicle. Very hard to find nowadays.

My 2019 Toyota HB is a manual. These kind of just basic cars with manual transmission are almost gone now (Toyota no longer offers this car with a MT). Of the few remaining most of them are sports cars or sports sedans with close gearing and low profile tires. Mazda 3, 2.5 S Premium being the exception.

My daily driver is a 2007 Audi A4 with a 6-speed manual. 135k miles on the original clutch.
Gosh! My '07 A4 has just a smidge under a quarter million miles on the original clutch! (246k IIRC)
Treat 'em right, they will last.

Truck's a stick,
RX-7 is a stick
SPL-311 Roadster is a stick
Wife's XC90 is an auto-box. She likes it.

If beauty is only skin deep,

I'ld skin that one!

Good to hear... I do drive a lot of hills though.
