I'm making new horse barn 4ftx8ft dutch doors using 3/4" plywood, 2"x6"s all pressure treated. One horse cribs so I thought I'd put aluminum channel on top of bottom door so 2.25"×(2"-3") x 48" with stainless screws.
I see 2" but not 2 1/4" wide. Prices all over the place.
Any idea where to get it at a good price? Otherwise I could make it. A friend has a metal brake. I'd use 7"-8" flat 48" x 1/8".
Thanks.

I’ve done what you are talking about before and used 2 pieces of galvanized steel roofing drip edge. One on each side of the door, screwed together on the top edge to make a U channel. This stuff can be bought anywhere and it’s cheap.

Not sure if there is one near you, but my go to is the local Metal Supermarket

A stump-sucker does that out of boredom. Put a cheap beachball in the stall.
Trouble is, once they learn it and began swallowing air, they never forget.
I used to soak the wood with the hottest hot sauce I could find.

I used to soak the wood in motor oil mixed with diesel. It made no difference to the cribbing horse. That’s when I put the metal on the top rail.

were you able to get it somewhere?
Local Lowes had galvanized 3" drip edge 10ft pieces for $3.98. They cut it in half so I could carry it home in the car. I got two pieces and overlapped should work fine. I'll use stainless screws.

I learned from an old friend that using stainless is expensive and is usually an overbuild due to the expected lifetime compared to our expected lifetime. Since you are using galvanized sheetmetal, I would consider just using galvanized screws.

I’ve also discovered that stainless screws are brittle and the slots are easier to strip out.

Stainless is definitely softer than regular steel fasteners but I wouldn't say more brittle. Much easier to strip or shear than steel. If I am driving into something difficult I often drive a steel screw in first to thread it, then put the SS one in.
