Oxy/acet tank ownership transfer

Never have those issues here. In fact, I lay down all my bottles when transporting them to and from the compressor station. Only bottle that would be impacted by being horizontal is the dissolved acetylene bottle and once it's vertical in the welding cart and sitting for a few hours, it's all good again.

I transport all my empty and full bottles in the back of the pickup truck, laying down and blocked from rolling.

apparently the State Reg for propane bottle trans upright apparently has to do with safety hazard if tank's valve is damaged or broken off in transport horizontally. have no idea if aqua lung tanks are dealt with the same way, regards

I never transport ANY of my bottles, inert shielding gas, acetylene or oxygen without the protective overcover installed and screwed down tight. Just common sense at least in my view.

Funny because propane tanks have a safety collar and SCUBA tanks don't.... May be because propane is a flammable gas and SCUBA tanks only contain compressed air.....

Have no knowledge concerning SCUBA tanks at all, other than they must be filled with breathable gas, not commercial gas.

Not compressed air but breathable compressed air free of any pollutants.

The safety collar on welding bottles is really there as the mounting for the threaded cap.

I don't have a pickup, just a cargo van, the last time I went to Airgas to swap out my oxygen bottle, they refused to do it, since I would be putting it into the van.

actually propane tank refills are the same way around here, suppliers will not fill a tank if it's to be transported horizontally, must be vertical (State regs). not sure on welding tanks re: that issue.
Yet you can exchange at the grocery store and self load your propane…

My MC bottles with Victor gauges and torch are too small to have protective caps…

About 25 years ago the trunk of a car was blown off by a leaking propane tank and the gas ignited… speculation was turning on the headlights caused ignition because the last thing the driver remembered was turning in the lights as it was getting dark.

As for compressed oxygen in a van there must be a low volume threshold otherwise every ambulance couldn’t transport oxygen.

I’m curious as all my medical gas is now delivered by a box truck with roll up door and lift gate… the company said it went to box for security…

Nitrous Oxide was being taken right off the truck.

I have no use for small bottles. and don't have any. Run time for me is way too short. No medical gas here unless it's the natural kind that I pass regularly, much to my wife's chagrin.
