Oxy/acet tank ownership transfer

   / Oxy/acet tank ownership transfer #61
I have no use for small bottles. and don't have any. Run time for me is way too short. No medical gas here unless it's the natural kind that I pass regularly, much to my wife's chagrin.
I just can’t take a big set with me everywhere.

I did a field repair for a neighbor recently and hauled my smallest set twice to the roof at work…

Having options is a good thing…

4 sets of tanks and regulators from ultra portable MC to full size.

This is the tanks on my smallest set.

.......Bottles, not tanks.... I looked at a set a while ago but again, run time is the issue for me.

glad to still have the Smiths torch set i originally bought in '71. working perfectly, always thought Smiths was more refined & well machined than Victor, but don't want to start any wars... :)

Smith and Victor both have very loyal following.

Victor more popular here because it was homegrown West Coast made in San Francisco CA until relocating to Texas after 50 years.

A welder from the east coast was hired at the shop and he liked Smith and when I asked he said the Victor Torch bodies have exposed thread where tip attaches and Smith doesn’t…

not the grill portable type, but larger 100 lb (i believe) bottles
Actually grill bottles are at marker/hardware store exchanges.... ... 5 Gallon or 20 pound whatever you prefer to describe them as .... Tare weight of tank is about 19 pounds so full tank is about 40 pounds....... 100 Pound is 25 gallons and stand over 4 feet tall and weighs in about 170 pounds when full... And if you want to play with the math propane weighs 4.25 pounds to the gallon... And commercial fills are at 80 percent of tank (water) volume...

yes, agree, grill gas is groc store exchange, the larger propane tanks filled by suppliers that are under State Regs (in my State) to fill only those that are transported upright. regards

This is the set I use the most when I need to be portable…

I’ve used it to cut out cross members and quarter panels in salvage yards back when I was actively restoring cars…

My next size with full size Oxygen never leaves the shop and is chained in the corner…

The biggest set is always outside under a awning where I would do my sanding and grinding… I would go through several oxygen for every acetylene refill…

Didn’t realize but I have 7 sets at the ready… plus a few spare full oxygen and nitrogen for purging.

Never had an issue with refills but always had to pay for hydro :-(

I refill my small O2 bottles using the same set up as the gas plant… bern a real money saver over the years.
