good morning all

warming up today, should hit 60 in clouds
Thomas sorry you are still getting snow

I woke up with lower back screaming, had to take a pill last night, way too much planned for next few days
to be held back by that. I need to dig around and find my back belt in a drawer some place.

nice brief visit to Popgadget's home and shop, got to see his 3D printing equipment, very cool.
OBD reader said very little, as expected, though it did show a trans code for being stuck in park. ??
car goes into dealer on Monday likely for a complete trans overhaul, will cost me 100 bucks.
no guilt that I'm sure a loser to that warranty policy; will get twice as much back as I paid in in first year.
Really hopeful this will give me a reliable vehicle after this.
but I've put it on notice, you leave me stranded again and you are history.

Good progress on deck Dennis. That old wood sure will give you a splinter. I've had several Trex decks and been very happy with them.
lots of discussion on who makes the best deck screws. There's some pretty high tech stuff out there. At least if you redo the deck with composite,
you aren't likely to have to replace it. Trex has been out since 1996, so almost 30 years experience.
has anyone had plastic decking fail early?

I can just see Newbury's grandchildren cleaning out his garage far into the future.
what in the world did Grandpa need with all these grease guns? :giggle:

Good morning TBN!!
44 this morning and will be pushing 80 under sun this afternoon. Breezy as a front and storm to push in over the weekend. Probably be able to smell smoke today from the fires in the western part of the state.
Pretty good day yesterday. Got another chunk out of the tank and most of 2 others cut. Two more pieces to go and the cutting will be pretty much done. Then move on to clean up.
Dog walks and 4 wheeler ride. He got plenty of exercise too.
Puttered around the shop doing the constant moving around.
Pretty much the same on tap today as yesterday.

And now it's time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Texas is having quite a day of different weather.
I bet the folks in West Texas would like some of that rain
that is being dumped in the East.
reminds you how big the state is

I think Don's pool is getting a small fill up

being in a dry area after a rain must be wonderful.
all those new flowers

It's raining
It's pouring
The old man is snoring
Well... not yet.
Just cracking the freezing mark at 6:30 in the AM.
Might make 45F later in the afternoon.
Rain to start after 5:00PM. High probability and then for the next few days.
Persistent cold has me under the weather but I think it's slowly improving.
Lots of house work to catch up on.
Outside stuff will have to wait until I feel better and the weather agrees.
It's so comforting to not have to worry aboot things.
Hope everyone else is doing well or even better.

good morning, 42 going to 69 partly cloudy

Finger is still very swollen after the Dr visit. Forcing it through as much bending as I can stand. Sure don't want to build up any more scar tissue

Fired up and walked Cody already. He is an amazing tracker dog. If someone has been there he shows it immediately and starts to track

Good Morning
40° with a high over 60 for today.

Yesterday kept me busy all day, mostly working on a cable locator that I bought on eBay. It was very cheap for an excellent unit (MetroTech 810), but non functional due to having batteries gone bad.
Here is the transmitter battery tray, as well as one that in3D printed.

I made copper contacts to sit in the printed one.
The transmitter is done, now I’m working on the receiver.
However, I won’t get anything done today, I’ve got to go to Palm Beach shortly, and again on Sunday.
Playing music tonight, and hopefully leveling the shed site tomorrow.

Massey, hope you feel better soon.
Frits, sorry your finger is not cooperating and healing. My friend had to have his knee
stretched for same reason. Not a fun experience. Would soaking your hand in hot water help?

found a position sitting here where back doesn't hurt.
but just know as soon as i get up...been a long time since it bothered me, thankfully.
maybe those bags of gravel and mulch did me in.
my arthritis meds have kicked in, that helps.
decided not to put down the gravel around the garden shed or do the bags of mulch.
going to wait til 14yo here.

am watering grass seed twice a day. Still nothing showing. I think after next two warm days, maybe a start.
has me thinking of going to find a pallet of sod and be done with it, but that would look far better than the rest of
the poor quality front lawn and really stick out, would look patched. I have ten pounds of Delaware Valley grass seed down,
visions of lush green grass will likely be questionable. but at least no stumps.

5 new rose bushes planted in total, still have one more for front yard to get.
I put cow manure compost at bottom of hole plus rose long release fertilizer.
and watered heavily

40 outside right now, may get to 70 later, with slight chance of rain. Need to tend to burn piles as number four is now underway as far as stacking goes. Got a lot of wood from the trees making their way to the burn piles. Managed to notch some rounds and get them into the tractor bucket late yesterday. Unfortunate but I think I pulled a groin muscle in the process of moving them. We shall see how that plays out today and the next few. Not comfortable for sure.

Today, more splitting and maybe finish up on the painting of the doors and frames. They turned out really nice, considering they were reclaimed and custom framed.

Nothing else on the agenda, need to reclaim front yard from all the tree work.

Hope all have a great start to the weekend. A good day too...be safe.

Yes I had composite decking and the Texas sun made it brittle and it deteriorated. I did get it replaced under warranty but only after a very detailed inspection that proved I installed it right. Make sure you install it exactly as the directions say and keep your receipts.

Good morning! 62˚F heading to 72˚ with cloudy skies and a good chance of rain around noon. Yesterdays we had a very light rain all day with a total of a welcomed 1". Not enough to get the creeks flowing with runoff but a good soaking rain for my freshly fertilized yard.

All schools canceled their field trips to the "farm" because of the rain and just a skeleton crew worked to take care of the animal feedings. Today is another wet day and the garage can always use some work.
The pool pump is working good after the electronic were replaced and 99% of the leaves have fallen so I might wait till next year on the pool cover, If I get one. The one company that did come out to measure was not sure how to attach the cover to the tilled overflow spa and honestly said he would not recommend a cover for my pool. For now I might just get an extra floor robot during the spring leaf dropping season.

Good Morning,
Ct, 34 to start going to 60. Sunny now and hopefully it stays that way. After work I ran to HD and bought 2 large bags of Scott’s fertilizer with crab grass preventer.
Scott(vt) sorry about mole trap. Have you tried the milky spores to get rid of grubs, worked for me
Mostly, what is that and where did you buy it ? I’m interested 😉

Happy, glad to hear your making progress and almost ready for cleaning.

Mike sorry you pulled a groin muscle, hopefully not too bad.

Buppies, hoping you can get some sleep and situation improves 🙏

Not sure what I will get into today but I’m sure it will be something. Also trying to make sure I have all the tools I need for the job up in Vermont for the deck replacement.

Hope all have a good Friday 🙏

Good morning, the low is 14 and going to a high of 25°F Wind E 4 mph. Periods of snow, today and tonight. Accumulation up to 8". I don't care how much snow we get, just no freezing rain.

Wagtail, a good description of our selection process for a PM.
Although sometimes I think the American vote of non-confidence is better.

I am pretty positive I am going to put up a portable shelter around the big oil tank. I will leave the front door of the shelter off and the back wall rolled up a little so it will get some ventilation underneath. That way the pump, meter and filters will all be protected from UV. I can also keep all the accessories for the tank under the shelter and in one place.

Time for breakfast, catch me later, stay safe all

Good Morning to all who Celebrate! Currently 44° going to a high of 62° and partly cloudy. Rain forecasted this weekend.

I am not going to purchase the mower, but I have good reason: LAND HO!

I found 40 acres of forest, not in a ridiculous gerrymandered shape, not with a deep marsh or sheer cliff to contend with, and the best part, not outlandishly priced. I head up north tomorrow to go look at it. If it looks good, I will be contacting the realtor ASAP on Monday and speaking with the various bloodsuckers to figure out what a reasonable offer that I can afford would be.

Parents shove off to see the Nephew this weekend, leaving me and the dog to our own devices. Helped dad put the 4' brush hog on the little Ford. I'll probably work at mowing the meadows down to keep the township happy after work today and whenever I can. ZT started fine after a few days trickle charging.

Work was a snooze fest, but when most of corporate is out, the stores get crafty and try to sneak stuff by. "Oh yeah, so-and-so said make this happen, I need that $10,000 whatever." Really? because I don't see anything specifically authorizing it. Nice try.

Otherwise, it looks like another sedate weekend, need to keep the dog happy and fed and watching the spring rains come down.

Y'all stay safe out there and be well! Take it easy! I know spring makes everyone a little ancy to get out after it, but you can't do much if you over-do it!
Prayers for those ailing and recovering!

Morning all, 40 going to 66 and sunny.
After work got 2/3 of the front beds raked out, three carts full of grass, branches and leaves. Would have been worse if I hadn't cleaned it out already in the late fall.

Had a friend who put in an early trex deck and it warped pretty quick. They replaced the trex under warranty, but friend had to do the work himself. New deck has been in place for a long time and still looks really good.

Be well,
This small rake from TSC has really helped get between the bushes and is holding up well.

Good Morning!!!! 52F @ 5:30AM. Wind increasing. A mix of clouds and sun. High 62F. Winds NW at 20 to 30 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Still have to figure out how to get oil and sludge out. Any suggestions appreciated. Going to be a really sloppy job!!
How much of it is there? Could you burn it out with a weed burner?

Mostly smooth trip south on Wednesday, just the usual idiots that can't figure out how to merge onto a freeway. Got a few boxes moved into the house, but not much unpacked yet.

Yesterday started with a fella buying the 7' x 17' box trailer I used for moving. Showed up a bit early after texting to let me know, paid cash, and seemed happy with the deal. I broke even on my end after replacing all four tires and installing a couple of motorcycle wheel chocks, which I let go with the trailer.

Realtor sent stills and video over Wednesday night, and I spent most of yesterday going through it. The photographer came twice to the house, once in the morning, then again at sunset. So I made slide shows for each time, with the interior shots going with the morning batch. Noticed that one bedroom and one bathroom only had one photo each, totally missing ths shower. Not happy with the video at all. Both were very short, and the transitions between rooms were so fast I got lost as to which room I was in and how I got there. I shot one continuous run of video, walking in through the front door, pirouetting, then moving onto the next room to do the same. Then went back out the front door and made a lap around the house, panning the camera (just an iPhone) between the house and surrounding view. It was sundown, so the outside shots had pretty clouds, but inside was dark and I fumbled around flipping on a few of the lights. But the video came out pretty smooth, surprising because it was all hand held. And I found some calm, ethereal, copyright free music for the background. The realtor's people used a military march in one of theirs, and something that sounded like the theme from Mission Impossible for the other. Ugh. Moved 'em up to YouTube and sent the links to the realtor. We have a telecon scheduled for today to work out the kinks, and what to use where.
Walk through.
Morning slideshow
Afternoon slideshow
I haven't asked the realtor's permission to publish his videos yet, so I'll hold off on them for now.
As a backup, I've pulled together a web page that includes more detail than will fit in an MLS listing, using my own photos.

Hopefully get some unpacking done today. I've already ordered a higher capacity transformer for the whole house sprinkler system up north. It quit working because the existing one wasn't designed to run four sprinkler valves at once. I also need to start gathering the parts and tools I need to finish the ceiling fan install and get two light fixtures working again. And have a talk with a window glass company up there about replacing a defective window. Heard back yesterday that my claim on the "lifetime warranty" was denied "after careful consideration". Probably try go get someone on the phone today for a more adequate explanation. I'm guessing it's at least a $500 job to get it fixed.

TGIF gang!

pigged out at Home Depot nursery, at same place I had poor experience at earlier, but only went to Garden center.
nice lady checking folks out there, line moved, all the way it should, and I edited my negative review to reflect that.

and five more rose bushes just jumped in my cart, some were only 16 bucks plus a willow shrub to replace the one
out near Lake Drew that got stomped by deer. Then I put four four foot plastic stakes around that willow and they came back and broke
the stakes. I would sure put a bb in the butt of that deer if I could. They have the whole woods to go scratch on and they wreck my shrubs doing it.

back is feeling better so going out to slowly work outside.
tomorrow might be record warmth here. Big work day planned tomorrow so
trying to conserve a little for that.

NJ state police out in force writing speeding tickets on 202 going to Flemington.
I usually set cruise at 61 and have a line behind me of folks waiting to get by the squad cars
on side of road. I think they ticket at ten over, heritage revenue generating road for the police, plus I think they
have a training barracks nearby. Lot of state police. Road is very wide and modern, limited access, one I had my brother's corvette on
seeing triple digits when i once was brave. (earlier NJ had DMV reciprocity with PA only for drunk driving)
now going that fast would get a reckless driving and that they love to share info on.

Deer eat my Forsythia, out of the 25 I planted, all of them have at least some damage.
May cage a few just to have some chance of growth this year.
