Tough on tires!

I know some people that are much like the Honey Locust...

I'd rather deal with the trees...
Extremely tough on tires. Thorns are rock hard and will easily penetrate boots, tires, leather gloves and
multiple clothing layers. Once taken down, I poison the stump or it will grow back.
I use the tractor bucket instead of the grappel because the thorns will hang up on the grappel teeth.
Supposed to be good firewood when seasoned and good BTU output, but by the time I've dealt with
the dang things I just want to get rid of it.
I'm taking down another nasty tree this afternoon. Wish me luck.

I've taken down a few more locusts trees since Thursday post. However, I thought this
tree take down was a bit different for "seat time". High winds wrecked havoc on a lot of
trees in my woods. This tree was split off the trunk and hung up in the limbs/branches
of nearby trees. Problem? If in deep woods I'd let it go to fall etc on its own. But this is
right next to my road/path to my back pastures. Too dangerous to leave.

What part of the country are you located in Mr. 1 Old Man?

We've got your Honey Locust in Northern PA, but none on my property...Thankfully!

Before I took down that split trunk cedar in above post.
I had taken out this Honey Locust mess of twisted, nastiness.
I'll cut bigger limbs and trunk off Monday and poison it to
finish up.

I rented an auger for the mini skid steer to plant some trees. It worked so good that I called the rental company and told them I wanted to keep it forever. For $2000 for the auger and a 3 bit set they actually agreed to my request.

I fell asleep last night and forgot to post......couldn't find a thread
called "seat time yesterday", so here's yesterday posted today.
Cut a firebreak for a burn pile. Cut up & hauled off the split cedar.

Just a little bit of seat time today in the Branson, spread a bucket of coal ashes in the driveway. Then ended up using the bucket as a bead breaker for a SxS tire. Had hooked up to my little trailer that was full of debris that needed to go in the dumpster that got delivered today. Got it all moved around and ready to be unloaded and noticed the rear tires were a bit soft, aired one up then went to the other. Clamped the air line to the valve stem and felt the stem break half off. So jack it up dismount the tire and used the loader bucket to break the bead and replace the valve stem. Was not on the agenda for this afternoon.

81 degrees here today. Spent the day mowing the deer corn, and other stuff out at our hunting farm. The deer HAMMERED the corn. We were kinda hoping to hand harvest some and re-plant. I think there were three uneaten cobs. $200 rotary cutter, JD 855 working awesome...

Good, but tiring day.

Yep, that's what makes those 30 minute jobs last 2 hours. 😖
Murphy came to visit you.....

It ain't over 'til it's over. Yesterday weather man said snow during the night and this morning followed by a day of mixed and freezing rain, and finally plain rain Monday. We got 8" or 9", depending where I measured, which I plowed off this morning before the freezing rain and mixed. The road was soft so I kept the plow up out of the gravel.

Spring has sprung. The rains finally came and now is weed abatement season which lasts all summer long... Spent some time on the MX scraping young weeds off the dirt for fire breaks. Tractor sat most all winter, since I'm letting the new guy with a new tractor do the road.
Speaking of the new guy he sent this picture after he ran over a rock, he was wondering what to do  I suggested a BFH or the tire shop. Can't help thinking that has to be a pretty flimsy wheel. Yanmar 50 hp tractor.
