I was surprised by how little junk/sludge seemed to come out since the supply line to the filter had plugged up before.

I put the new grommet in and line with a valve in the line real close to the outlet.
The valve is because I am thinking about adding a pre filter to keep the big junk out of the factory filter.
Another big plus is it will have a water separator bowl and drain.

I am thinking about adding the pre fuel filter under the tank on the right side of the tractor and attach it to the ROPs.
Will having this new filter below the main filter be an issue? I would think the lift pump would still be able to draw fuel up to the factory filter.

adding a filter will not solve the problem of debris in the fuel. you will just have to change the added filter just as often as the factory filter when it was alone. fix the problem of debris in the tank first then look at your fuel supply. do you have a bulk tank that is contaminated. how about pre screening (filter funnel the fuel as you pour it into the tank.

shouldn't be a problem as long as the filters are clean and connections don't leak.

I don’t think it’s currently happening. I purchased the tractor in 2022. I think a water separator like on a Racor type is a good thing since now I am using a 55 gal drum for diesel.
My drum has a Racor filter on it that filters the fuel before it goes into my equipment tanks.
I have always liked having a pre-filter to keep the primary filter cleaner. On my last diesel truck I had a Racor 30 micron pre-filter and it worked great, so I would like to replicate that basic setup.

I replaced the sediment bowl pre filter on my Kubota a few years ago with a Racor 215 series... It's been great.
I run 2 micron filters in it, and they generally need replacing every 100 hours which isn't too bad. I could always use the available 10 or 30u filters that would be more typical for a pre filter, but I got a good deal on the 2u filters in bulk.
