Good morning, 38 going to 60 was very windy last 2 days but nice today with sun

Drove around the fields and not seeing any major trees or branches down other than more sticks. The Redbuds planted on the edge of the tree lines are looking great this year.

Was able to get down to the welding shop and put up the top beam on the long wall.
Realized that this would not be good for the back so came up with rhubarb solution involving cleats, come-along, racket straps etc but up it went and clamped in place waiting to be screwed in next

Good morning TBN!!
38 this morning going to go to low 70 with mostly sun. Last of the cooler day with 80 and above in the whole 7 day and lows mostly in the 60s. My kind of weather!
Too windy again yesterday so mostly just puttered.
I did get my step count back up to 7k. I don't walk much inside the tank :)
Not sure about the day. I suspect we are going to see my grandsons new first house. I have a tool kit made for him. More sentimental then anything else. Tools from his daddy that passed last Nov. from me and some from my grandfather. Still useful. All US made old school quality. Later today so I don't know yet what else I will get in to.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!

Good Morning
40° under a cloudless sky and breezy, not a howling wind like yesterday. Sky is to remain clear while the temp climbs to 60.

Yesterday was spent largely on electrifying the shed. That. Involved getting the wire into it from the shop, mounting the panel and drilling the studs, running wire, installing boxes and devices, but it’s done except for sweeping up and putting the rest of the tools away.

Also picked up some arbor vitae to hide the propane and diesel tanks from view. We could never see them from the house, but the old folks home provides a great view…

Today I’ll clean up and pronounce the shed ready for the spray foam contractor. I’ve also got a little bit of cable to secure where it comes down the wall to exit the shop on its way to the shed.

Won’t get into anything too involved, I’ve go to go to Martha’s Vineyard this afternoon. It will take me longer to drive to the airport than it will to fly from Philly to the Vineyard. But it still beats actually working…..

quick trip to hospital for routine blood work, five vials of blood, yikes

Popgadget, are you going to put any kind of dehumidifier or hvac in that storage shed so your wife's alpaca
stuff stays clean? I know she has them binned, just wondering about mold. Maybe it sells so quickly doesn't matter.
hope the deer don't chomp your arborvitae. Joys of having a big dog.

Happy, a fine idea to give your grandson a good set of tools, plus they are likely "keepers" no matter what.
the trick is having a good teacher
my father could not operate an adjustable wrench so my skills came later in life, no early teachers except for excellent
shop teacher in high school.

Riptides, hope you are feeling better.

after waiting over two hours to speak last night at the township farm meeting, it did not go well. The meeting did but I didn't.
perhaps I led up to my point a little bit but moderator gently asked me to get to the point, which I promptly made, and he understood why
the leadup. But I was embarrassed and worse, it's all on permanent government media of the meeting. I can't wait to watch it, see if I made a complete fool of myself. I clearly do a lot better writing than I do speaking, particularly at 9pm dead tired.
I am so never doing that again.
worse, the guy was likely right.

I think when I told them I had to leave the area to find a farm to buy they were looking to move me along...
some very bright people there and at least three local farmers, so they sure did not need my input.
the head of the farm committee owns the farm right behind my home, we are friends, and I'll just
deal through him. No more public speaking for me.

going to plant four more planter pots of beans today, won't take long.
after tonight, the heat is on and things can be safely planted assuming the ground has warmed up enough.

Good morning, the low is 25 and going up to 48°F. Wind NNW 5 mph. Sunny!

Went to bed at 00:30 this morning and got up at 4 for a P, back to bed and got up at 8. Just got breakfast into me.
The meter I got for the oil tank is supposed to be able to orientate it so it is vertical and the numbers read horizontally. Haven't been able to figure out how to get the base off, so I will mount it horizontally and support it with a 4x4. I don't like the idea of 3 lbs hanging off the end of a street elbow screwed into the top of an $800.oo pump.

I don't plan on doing anything productive until next Monday at the earliest and it is doubtful then.
I could get used to this 'retired' thing quickly.

Have a safe day all

Drew, way back in public school, 7th grade I think, we had to do that public speaking thing, 3 times in the school year. I did one and took the 30% reduction in my grade for the other two. Still passed out of English class that year.
Speeches put me to sleep.

Morning all, 45 going to 62, sun is up and wind is calmer.
Did replace light bulb in outside front light and think I found my next truck.
Negotiations to follow.
Son got off waitlist and accepted to the college we looked at this weekend :) but it's very expensive, so we need to figure out financials.

I had to do town halls and large audience speaking many times. When the camera points at you, it feels very different. Focusing on content and people you know in the audience (if any) helps.
Having a powerpoint slide with 5 lines max to remind you of talking points helps.
I don't have the joking part down that well though, think that is something some people just have and it's hard work to keep an audience interested. I just kept my speeches short and interactive.
Don't worry Drew, you at least made the effort, that's a big win right there.

Be well,
The sad state of my forsythia, one flower, looks like a lot of them survived, but are pretty chewed up by the deer.

If you think of it, you may want to acquire a pair of safety glasses to keep in your truck.;)
the more the merrier, keeps the dust off the dash...

Scott, when they start pumping, how long does it take to fill your truck?

have been gardening for hours, got lots of good stuff accomplished, came in to sit and have lunch.

moved the umbrella over to the new seating area and it works fine, but I need to secure it better.
luckily there is a six by six nearby I can get a mending bracket on. Otherwise it might come down and crush the weather
station. Old umbrella, trying to get another year out of it.
took two blue striped towels I have (my car wash towels) and draped them over the cushions to keep the pollen off.
looking forward to going out side this afternoon and put my feet up out there, have my camera ready for a friendly bird, and
do as little as possible. But then I'm always jumping up to do something...

got the four bean pots made, now the challenge is keeping the squirrels and birds out of the pots.

GD was accepted to Towson university. Worked out the financials for her and set up an overview of it to make it easier to understand. Paid the deposit and plan to pay most of the balance not covered by scholarships. She should be all set. D will help with a lot of the details having relatively recent experience doing it herself at Elon.
Being close to Johns Hopkins is good because of the long term care she is under

68°F and no rain.

Good progress mowing yesterday, but not without challenges. Got the line of coconut trees along drive trimmed up and 3+ acres around the house.

Oil cooler on LS leaking again. Have already replaced twice. Looking up the part on LS site they are on 3rd revision to original, part is made by Samsung. Took earlier one to radiator shop but they refused to repair. New part runs $254. Looking at just using a universal $50 cooler as no longer under warranty.
So resumed mowing with Sophie’s BX. More lawn area than rough. Maybe need another hour to finish out back and the universal pops off the 4wd. Had this happen once before and as I recall I have to drop the miscount to get in there with new pin. End of day.

Need to piddle about this morning before addressing tractor issues.

Hosting H&F here at the house this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

You may have noticed, rain has been rather sparse here this season. Had a problem a couple months ago with catchment tanks not filling due to a filter problem and I had to buy water. Sadly, haven’t had enough rain to even keep, let alone gain. Looks like we are down to about 1000 gallons in primary tank, hopefully same in others as they should cross level some. Cottage has own system and years ago I set up a pipeline capable up transferring house to cottage or vice versa. Being empty now, cottage tank is full, it fills more efficiently. Currently doing a gravity transfer from cottage to house. Main challenge was finding appropriate length, useable hose to go from bib to tank. Eventually found one. Guess I need another new hose.

just came in after a really long day outside

David, I wonder if rubber shock mounting of the oil cooler would help.
if the design is weak, might be a workaround.

time for dinner
I don’t think so. Leak is always a pinhole type failure in the body someplace, not near connection. I will have to fashion a mount for the universal solution so maybe I can incorporate a rubber mount.

used up last of nicer leftover pots for some viola seeds and cosmos.
that spot is full afternoon sun and I have to keep those pots watered.

spark plugs were as expected at 107 hours.
could just have easily left them in for another couple seasons but it's been almost four years.
for seven bucks for two don't mind doing it, keep the Kawasaki happy.

5000 step day, feeling every one of them

what I found interesting on those plugs was how easily they came out.
The gentlest of pulls on the ratchet and they spun out. Obviously installed with a torque
wrench to get the right crush seal on spark plug, but I've never had a plug come off so gently.
vs lug nuts which always seem to have been last installed way too tight.
I put the new plugs back on firmly, not tightly.

how many of us have thought while changing an oil filter
not previously done by us:
what part of hand tight did you not understand?
