Did you see the ban on pot store billboards/advertising they want to implement in Indiana? The reasoning being if it's not legal in Indiana, it shouldn't be legal to advertise for it in Michigan. So driving up 933, for example, you see pot shop billboards in Indiana for the stores up ahead just a few miles in Michigan. However, I believe they grandfathered any advertising that is already in place until its contract runs out. I seem to recall one of them signed a 10 year contract before the ban.

As conservative as Indiana is, especially it's legislature, I would bet it'll be a few years until pot gets any kind of legalization here. Unless, that is, they decide to tax it heavily to get a significant revenue stream from pot sales.
As always, it's all about the money.

growing up here locally we had a small bottling company named LaRue, located just outside of New Hope.
They had these small thicker bottles and their root beer was my favorite, second was birch beer and then vanilla.

Once again, the question of why a government has a right to tell us what is and isn't allowed comes to mind. Legal or not, we will or won't do something depending on our desires. Some will never try a drug, legal or not. Others will. Legal or not. The laws haven't stopped folks from becoming addicted to something or other, it is really on the hands of an individual. If something is unsafe to use while driving or on the job, restrictions are proper.
I passed up many chances at using drugs known to be addictive, just for that reason.
At one time the feds were saying that marijuana was addictive but not cocaine, as they (CIA*)were in the business of selling it to finance illegal war.

*(Cocaine Industries of America) was our nickname for them.

Drunk driving. Open sewage. Square dance calling in a roundhouse.... all things society has deemed harmful to the greater population. It's easy to say just let folks do what they want to do. Heck, I break laws now and then. Speeding being my most likely offense.

I won't post links, but you can google up list after list of things that used to be illegal in the US that no longer are.

The officer showed great restraint. Trespass is trespass. Until the US Government decrees weed as a legal drug, she and anyone else caught using it on the job can be detained and charged.


Don't know if Amascon is considered an 'industrial' setting but I do know that in an industrial setting, using illegal drugs of any kind are grounds for dismissal and I'm sure in her pre employment agreement, the use of illegal substances wile on the job are expressly prohibited.

They are here for sure. The outfit I retired from, it's in their pre-employment contract as well as a pre-employment drug screen and my ex-employer uses the hair pull to determine it, plus all employees are subject to random testing. I cannot remember how many times I was pulled for a random. Lots of times.. Got the afternoon off with pay or morning or whatever.

Even using legal drugs or alcohol on the job is verboten.

The biggest question to me is; do they have a verifiable test for pot?
I can give a lot of leeway for what you do to yourself, as long as it doesn't spill over.
Drive drunk, steal to support your habit or any other type of obvious antisocial behavior is where I draw the line.

I’m not sure what you mean by by verifiable but yes, they have Pee tests and they have blood tests , and have for 10 or 15 years at least I know of.

Our corporation employed them to test my plant 15 years ago, because one employee smelled it on another employee in the locker room, and reported it to EH&S, we lost five guys that day, due to one drug or another.

HR decided to test the entire plant (including me, the director) . I had supervisors shuttling employees back-and-forth to the local hospital for testing all day long.

I believe that reasonable people don't need to be told what is bad for them and greater society. We tend to self-police on these things. Some simply cannot or will not act sensibly. In earlier societies they were dealt with directly and not let go to do it over and over until they kill someone (again). My complaint is with all the things we are not allowed to do, even though harmless to others. Freedom much?
I have to admit, the thought of people square dancing on a moving railroad turntable sounds like cheap, homegrown amusement. Or did I miss your meaning there?

Pot use both recreational and medicinal is legal in Canada but DO NOT get caught with it at customs when you come into the country. The rubber glove treatment will be the least of your worries.
There have been so many drug/drink driving busts just this year in Ontario. It is unreal that people just don't get it. It is a one year suspended license (by the court and backed up by the Ministry of Transport) per offense. If they can get you for impaired by alcohol (1 offense) and also by drugs (2nd offense) that makes 2 charges of impaired driving.
On top of that at the time of the offense your vehicle is impounded for 7 days at your expense.
After you get your license back there is a ignition interlock devise that you must install at your expense on your vehicle that before you even start it you must blow into.
