rs, are you going to treat the end grain?

Had pancakes for supper with 4 year old dark maple syrup.
Sounds good. I mix this into the batter

Won't the exposed bottom be more prone to wick and hold moisture with the sides sealed?

I guess that’s one possible scenario.

The other thought was leaving the bottom open … to allow water to drain (wick) out the bottom.

The old boy whose YouTube I watched was in Wyoming (?) and suggested leaving the bottom unsealed.

IIRC, he claimed that’s the way that his Dad (or Grandpa ?) had always done it (possibly with creosote) … and had posts that were still holding up after 50 years.

Seems like that wasn’t the only YouTube I watched that suggested the bottom not be sealed.

Either way, it’s a fair bet that either method will probably outlast me …

Morning all, 50 going to 68 and sunny, still windy.
College told us no financial help, oh well, was worth a try.
Did get some more grass cut in back area, found out what the boom was the other night.
Another huge chunk of Ash tree fell, no surprise there.

Good thing is with this wind, not getting attacked by bugs.

I remember paradise island when it had two resorts and a casino and there was a huge night club on Nassau, which has been gone for decades.

Sorry to hear your still in pain Buppies, get better soon.

Popgadget, don't you hate when the service fixes everything except the most important item.

I used grade B dark amber from near my uncles old place in MA, need to place an order if they still ship. I put a drop in the batter too, as it gives it a little crunch.

Be well,

Good. morning! 74˚F heading to the upper 80's, N wind. The 100s have thankfully left.
Continuing with our German guest. Sunday was a neighborhood trail 4 mile hick followed by an afternoon of Water volley ball. Yesterday after a short hike and a front yard mow we did a road trip to The Auslander restaurant in Fredericksburg for some spicy Texas Schnitzel.
Today we visit some relatives.

oh let us tell you the many many ways... :giggle: :giggle:

Holly's stuffed dog has Buppies "special name"
embroidered on one ear. So he will always be near.
Scary time when the world is confusing, but hopefully that doggie
will soon be replaced by the new puppy.
