67°F and .05 inches rain

Another area mowed yesterday. 2 more to go.

Nice Happy Hour in town yesterday. Drew, HH is just Monday’s . But have had some bonus gatherings of late.

No luck getting Mule fuel filter at dealer. It is a special order item. Don’t think this is really a full service dealer, more authorized seller.

Up early for a 7Am service appointment for my Tundra, it’s first. Then a trip to Home Depot

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

interesting video from Messicks showing what used tractors cost
most interesting thing to me is his comment that the small and compact tractor market is
pretty well worn out at 5000 hours.
Useful life about half that of commercial ag. Which makes sense.
commercial zero turn range is 1500-3000 hours I read.

Good morning TBN!!
60 going to low 80s today. Tstorms likely but probably while we are sleeping tonight!

I had one of "those" days yesterday. :-(
Everything I touched was a problem. Just the highlights:
Went to town for a new battery from NAPA. Ended up needing nearly on hour to get it back in. Tried to reinstall using the hold downs that came with the tractor. Had it strapped in for years because not the same size as original. Suffice it to say it is strapped in again.
Put the pallet with genny and welder in the back of the truck so I could put the bucket back on.
Then I ran the tractor out of fuel at the top of the driveway on the hill. Had to walk to get the fuel and get it in and of course it wouldn't start with out bleeding the system.
Shut the tailgate on the truck and it came off in my hands. It's not a big deal but it's a PITA to get back on.
Gave up and decided to take the dog for a walk. Tripped in the first few steps.
Gave up after that. I sure hope today is better.
No plans yet. I'm sure work on the bridge will be in the agenda. I need to get some rip rap down in the mud and some fill between the tanks and shore it up. Then we should at least be able to drive across it. That is still a couple of day to finish fill though and get it secure. It is to narrow between the tanks to drive on.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!
Hoping you have a better day today

Tundra service was really quick. I was 1st one in. Was so fast I got excited and came right home, completely forgetting about HD. No problem, have another appointment in town tomorrow, so will just get mowing earlier today.

I have to pick up an order from Messicks tomorrow. Will plan to eat lunch at nearby diner.
Concrete work is done, mixer back in the barn.
Grass is all mowed. Did hit some more sticks. Already have fire pit full of sticks.
Saw a dead cherry tree at 45° angle on other side of creek. Been waiting for wind to take a couple down, this one hung.
Late lunch
Wife picked strawberries and is making jam

Since my last post, I removed the old deck stairs. That got me thinking of a change
IMG_1260.jpeg

I have a 4 ft section that bridges my geothermal lines underneath. Was going to drop to lower deck there. Now think I’ll keep deck at same height of main deck then step down closer to the garage. Same amount of deck space

I called the garage and set an appointment for Friday after noon. They figure I need the tires rotated. When I do the dump run tomorrow I will take my laser thermometer with me and shoot both front calipers. I think it is a brake problem.

Neither one of us has any teeth, crunchy is not our friend. A can of Pringles is about as crunchy as I get.

More on the maple syrup, if it gets moldy, just strain it through cheesecloth then refrigerate it.

Drew, on your pergola, I would use 4' pieces of rebar with a 90° angle on the top. Put 2 per leg at kitty corners. That ought to hold it down.

Good (Wednesday) morning. Overnight Low of -0.8C and it's presently 14.5C, clear & calm.

Yesterday I decided to do an arvo blood test (obviously non-fasting) at the local clinic. I also stopped off at the Chemist and the PO prior to that.

Which means that, it being 'into town' day for groceries, I don't have to do those tasks today.

That's about it, take care all.

Picture to show, originally I was making the lower deck (red) 16 ft, long, to where the 4 ft "bridge" currently ends, now I think I'll make it 12 ft, and extend the upper deck to 8 ft. I'll be removing the old AC unit that has been disconnected for over 10 yrs, but can't fill that space with deck, as electric meter and old furnace exhaust are back there on the wall, plus a basement window.

Mostly, I made the Carpenter Bee traps a few years ago. They work very well.

Good Morning All.

Good morning, the low is 44 and going up to 57°F. Wind NE 8 mph getting up to 20 mph by noon. 40% chance of showers this afternoon and evening.

Dump/town run today. May stop at the drug store and get me a new bottle of Vicks vapo rub. My current one expired in September of last year.

If it is not raining when I get back, then I will cut the grass. The wind is supposed to pick up. The bugs don't fly in 10 mph+ winds.

Got my goobers into me, so now time for breakfast.

Have a safe day all

57 and raining, going to 65. Yesterday was another perfect weather day.

About 30 years ago planted 2 hemlock trees...bare root things about a foot high. They are nice size now, and I really enjoy them. This spring I was amazed to find wooly adelgids on them...an unfortunate tiny insect pest that has killed probably millions of hemlocks in the Appalachians. There are very few native hemlocks near us so I just can't figure how they found my 2 trees.

Yesterday I mixed up some pesticide that are poured on the soil around the trees for the roots to absorb. Fingers crossed that I can save them.

Bush hogged my food plots for a couple of hours yesterday once the dew dried. Plan to replant this year after leaving them out to reseed themselves last year, so lots of weeds. 2 deer came out of the woods and watched me mow, and them the swallows swooped in to feed on the little insects I was stirring up. Lots of fun watching them.

Checked game cams and found more bears hanging around this month.

good morning all
wet out, slight drizzle, beginning of two days of rain and cool weather for next week.
More than inch expected, then a dry weekend for the holiday, which will be nice.
no plans for today other than taking car to tire dealer this afternoon. Brand new Goodyears have
a small thump, maybe a bad tire, no idea.

does it feel like it's coming through the steering wheel or the seat? Trying to figure out front or back wheels...

then a nice dinner at my brother's tonight.

Buckeye, that's an impressive project. going to look wonderful when you are done.

hope RNG, Riptides and others are doing fine.

Morning all!
Currently 47 and raining. Going to 52 for the high.

Managed to get quite a bit done yesterday.
Walk with wife done. All of the grass mowed. Trip to the post office. Dropped off 5 bags of shavings to the local dog pound. Picked up 3 burls given to me by a friend. Got them trimmed and made into bowl blanks.
IMG_1540.jpg
Cut another board for my brother in law. Removed the snow blower and installed the mower on the neighbor's tractor. Emergency run to jump start a relatives car. Worked a bit in the shop and squeezed a nap in!

Not sure what will get done today. Think it will be a play in the shop day. Subject to change at a moments notice though.
Company is coming to service the mini splits at the apartment house tomorrow. Will spend the morning overseeing that.
Rainy and cold for the next 4 days so who knows what will get done.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Hope you save the hemlocks. We have a lot of natural growing ones near the farm, and we have transplanted a couple near the house years ago.

The swallows love it when I mow, and I enjoy their show.

Good morning TBN!!
63 this morning . Going to clear up and 86 and sunny today.
Storms last night I guess but I slept through them :) .41 in the rain gauge.

Much better day yesterday. Got some more rebar sunk and welded. More of that today is on the agenda. It's nice to work without fighting or fixing everything at every turn.
I have at least one more horizontal piece I want to get in then start on vertical.
Have you tried using a rotary hammer drill or even better the various breaker hammers.
I am going to try this and wonder. Do I just chuck the rebar in to my rebar and just have at it. I have a beast that gets very little use. May be just as much work as the sledge LOL.

Thanks sodamo.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!
