You Know You Are Old When

You get a smart wallet and you're looking for the instructions :ROFLMAO:

My old Filson leather wallet has held up well over the years, but the leather seems to be stretching with the cards, and they started falling out regularly (sometimes I just keep the wallet in the truck and not in my pocket and if the wallet is upside down somewhere, cards come out).
My own bill fold is getting threadbare. All the men's stores in town have closed up.
I'm not buying one on-line if I haven't held it and seen what it is.
I'm carrying fewer cards than ever. Why carry the medical /prescription card all the time? Two charge cards are more than enough.

I must be getting old.

Just met friends celebrating a birthday and it’s another cashless establishment…

I mentioned it and the others say they seldom ever use cash from parking meters to fine dining all going cashless.

With smart phone apps even credit tap and swipe going away.

No need for a traditional wallet.

Best wallet I’ve ever owned. I’ve had mine for over 10 years and still perfect. Also a 100 year warranty. Not cheap, but the last wallet you’ll need unless you lose it.

YKYGO when a life-time warranty doesn’t mean as much as it used to mean

The more things change, the more they remain the same. In HS I bought a "selfwinding" watch with a lifetime warranty. It lasted about 3 months.
i sent it back, with the obligatory payment for shipping and handling; when I got it back it still wouldn't work. Sent it back again, and I don't recall what happened that time but I also don't recall wearing it again. When we moved 2 years later I tossed it.

The wallet I use is one my wife gave me for a birthday present when we first started seeing each other. That was 25 years ago, and while a bit scuffed is still in great shape.

Sigh, substituting a bulky, fragile, expensive electronic gadget that doesn't fit in a pocket very well for something simple and low-tech. Maybe some peoples' idea of progress, but not in my book.

I've been know to intentionally leave my phone on the kitchen table and go any place I need to with no phone.
Of course I have accidentally left the house without my wallet more then once.
Good thing I keep a bit of cash in the truck :) don't get much gas or ice cream with my looks.

My experience is just the opposite. When I retired 8 years ago the number of extra cards for everything that I had to carry increased so that I had to buy another wallet - it is so thick I rarely ever put it in a pants pocket. Before retiring I didn't need a medical card, now I have to carry 4. And even though I go to the same doctor's office every time, they insist on scanning those cards each visit even though I tell them nothing has changed.

I carry a card in my wallet with family & friends phone number & birthday on it.
I've carried it so long and every time one kicks the bucket I draw a line through it. I should make a new one. 1"×2" would work.

1 - Medical insurance card
1 - Dental card
1 - Costo card
1 - Drivers license
1- Conceal carry permit
2 - Credit cards (one personal, one for work)
1 - AAA card (auto)
1- CFC card
1 - ATM card

The Filson wallet I owned I bought my dad one about 30 years ago. His grandson now uses it and still going strong.

My card count has increased over the years, and it's partly my fault for being lazy and sticking too many cards in one slot in the wallet. If the wallet gets tossed in the truck and it goes upside down, as mentioned, card can come out. It's my own fault.

I bought a Filson wool coat before my dads wallet, and it's a great product, now that I'm married and live in NC (wool coat doesn't get used that much anymore LOL), can't justify the price of the Filson.

Have to say, I am LOVING the smart wallet for all the cards though. Also a place for my drivers license and CCW permit that stays in one place, as well as storing a couple of bills. VERY compact to boot.

You carry cards that I only get out when I need them.

I guess I'm old, and tired of the displaced hip.

Was there such a thing as sciatica before the advent of hip pockets?

That's what I like about this new wallet.

Drivers license and CC permit is in one place, and you can see the driver's license when you open the wallet.

Push of a button, all the cards come up. I've already placed them in the order on how frequent I use them (work credit card #1).

I also forgot the company gas card I carry which is #2 in line. It's a breeze accessing the cards and putting them back in place.

My wife knew I wanted something to hold at least a couple of bills and to keep my drivers license in one place that will not move. This wallet is pretty much perfect. Time will tell how well it holds up, but for like $35, I've been impressed so far.

Because it's "thicker" but smaller overall, it now goes in the front pocket instead of the rear pocket though.

The pain management docs long ago commented men with back pocket wallets were frequent patients…

On hearing this I moved wallet to front pocket also less attractive for pick pockets.

I wear cargo pants/shorts much of the time, wallet goes in one of the thigh pockets. Much more comfortable than in a back pocket.

Speaking of pockets, anyone else remember the early 70s when, for reasons unknown some pants didn't come with back pockets, and the front ones weren't really big enough to comfortably fit a wallet? I don't know who thought that was a good idea, but I'm glad that fad didn't last long. There was a spell you had to check before you bought to make sure there were pockets.
ISTR button flys were around the same time, glad that fad didn't last long too.

Years ago a chiropractor told me that his number one reason for guys with hip issues is hip pocket wallets. He told me to carry it in a front pocket, and I’ve been carrying it there ever since.

My chiropractor told me that years ago, a thick wallet twists your pelvis when sitting

Number two is belt too tight…

Suspenders have cured many aches and pains for those with a build requiring belt tightening to keep pants from dropping.

The back pocket wallet was especially hard on those occupations like truck driving…

It’s totally different for someone on their feet all day.

A older Limo Driver was having severe issues to the point he was considering giving it up and found his new Limo aggravated the problem… the problem went away when he moved his wallet from back pocket.
