My Ram, has 2wd, 4 auto, 4 lock, and 4 low. I have tried 4 auto, but really didn't like that. If you are driving in loose sand, it let's it spin too much before engaging fronts; better to go to 4 high lock, and avoid tearing up the driveway/road.

I suspect it's the same with my Colorado. I only use the fulltime 4 mode for on-road driving. If I'm going where I know I'll need 4WD, I'll use 4Hi or if needed 4Lo.

Then you saw the v8, v6, i4 and EV versions. You also saw the Jeep pass the Bronco. Those of us would have worked outdoors for the past 40+ years know the climate is different now than it was 40 years ago. Mountain snowpacks are more variable and the snow comes off earlier in the spring. And this isn’t political; it’s just what’s happening. We’re able to start the logging season a full month earlier than we did in the 1980s.
