Electro magnetic clutch. -- That probably means a solenoid. This solenoid may have 2 coils; a pull in, and a hold. Both work to move the mechanism but one shuts off afterward. The "hold" coil draws little current. Maybe youre not getting full movement, leaving BOTH coils activated. The switch is probably sized for only a momentary heavy draw and thus overheats and fails. 🤔

Not that type of clutch. The clutch used on mower is only a electromagnet hold. No solenoid, no fancy wiring. Just an electric coil that when 12V is applied creates a magnet to engage the clutch.

To the OP take a ohm meter and check the resistance of the clutch. Should be in the ballpark of 2.3-3.3 ohms. Also could be shorting out after it gets hot. Also make sure there isn't a faulty clamping diode in the wiring above the clutch that could be causing an overload issue burning out the switches.

The clutch should only pull around 3-5 amps when operating. But if the coil is shorting out can approach 20 amps without blowing fuses but will damage other electric components.

With the power connector to the clutch coil disconnected, check the coil to ground resistance. It should be in the millions of ohms.

If it is shorted to ground, it will cause excessive current flow.
