WE likely arw discussing a 4+ year old article...

States are the usual suspects, including mine.
You're correct, it looks like it's been rolled back by some current rulings. But the fact that they were even considering it until cooler heads prevailed should be equally troubling. If the political climate changes, they'll be right back pushing it again.

Sounds good. They'll quickly starve to death and then we can move in and straighten things out.

A whole lot of what all of us eat comes from California's central valley. The farmers there are fighting their own state daily. They don't support the nonsense that comes from their politicians. The farmers of the valley and ranchers in the Sierra Nevada foothills need everyone's support and not disdain.
Just like farmers / ranchers / country folks in New York, Illinois, and many other states where a urban majority in a small geographical area runs roughshod over the rural minority in the larger areas of the state.

It's sad how journalism has given way to peddling outrage with click bait articles like this. And it's sad that people keep falling for it. So many people aren't happy unless they have something to be outraged about.

First, my apologies to Ultrarunner and any other TBN member from CA but they don't call it "The land of fruits and nuts for no reason". A place where much, but not all, of the governance is based on spend and then tax to backfill the profligate spend.

What I can't wrap my head around is why the tax payers haven't long ago said enough is enough and voted out the half wits. I can only conclude the people who vote are not the same people who pay taxes and out of self interest they keep voting for more free lunches.

That my friends is why businesses are fleeing CA and CA has seen a net year over year outflow of people from its borders since they are voting with their feet.

It's the cereal state. Fruits, nuts and flakes.

I have a number of friends in CA and have been there frequently over the past few months. I really enjoy California. Many of the folks I meet in CA hold out hope that they'll have another "Reagan Revolution", where someone steps in with a whole new line of moderate thinking.

Gsganzer, I really hope CA gets their ship up-righted as I too have spent many wonderful work trips to various CA cities and the opportunity within the existing CA business and personnel base is great UNFORTUNATELY the profligate spending and then the taxing to backfill the hole seems to be ingrained in the current state and municipal administrations at so many levels that a Reagan Revolution may no longer be possible. Those with money walk leaving the remainder but the existing administrations do not adjust spend for the lower tax base, they just keep spending and printing IOUs and raising the per capita taxes. The only years, CA ran a "surplus" was when the Federal govt handed them almost a TRILLION dollars of COVID relief money.

People, justifiably, vote for their own self benefit and when the monied people leave the state the remaining people's voting power increases and they vote for candidates who promise more benefits. A vicious cycle.

Isn't the problem all of the libs in the cities are the majority of the population? The farmers and people in the rural areas do not have voting power.
That's why they want to do away with the electoral college. The party which claims to be for minorities feels differently when that works against them.
