12 States to ban diesel vehicles

I have a number of friends in CA and have been there frequently over the past few months. I really enjoy California. Many of the folks I meet in CA hold out hope that they'll have another "Reagan Revolution", where someone steps in with a whole new line of moderate thinking.

Yea only problem with that was Regan got us where we are today by his Amnesty program .

Did you watch the video in post 32? The regulations are not just being rolled back, they are being eliminated. There are multiple news videos of the EPA administrator saying just that. The backdrop of the news release was the Kenworth plant in Indiana.

That sounds good but what happens when a new different administration reinstates those strangling regulations.

Many forget that emissions regs go back to 2004.5 when the EPA regs mandated cooled EGR’s in larger diesel engines.
They are a big headache when they go bad, too. Ask me how I know.
But if DEF goes away, with all the tanks, heaters, plumbing and the fluid itself, that would be a big step towards sanity again in the diesel engine world.

My guess is it would be cost prohibitive to start over. For me, I am going to enjoy all that we can get, be it short or long term.

That's not what is being reported in all the trucking trade magazines.
But no, I don't watch the videos and FB reports because 99% of them are click bait and AI generated fakes. I'll believe it when I see it.
And even RFD said it will be met with multiple law suits.

All old news, this just dropped. Take the win while it is offered. Without scientific data to back up a law suit, it will hit a brick wall.

I saw a news article of the push to ban all diesel vehicles, mainly by 2035. Currently, there are 12 states marching down this path. It's the usual states, that are also pushing for 100% electric, by tying their laws to align with laws/rules that are passed in California.

One of the things that really surprises me, is states that tie their rules and mandates that come from California. Without getting political, I'd be more than a little miffed as a voter in say Massachusetts, who's legislature chooses to abandon their own sovereignty and instead abide by the rules passed by voters in another state.

I haven't dug through all the details, but I can't help but wonder what this would do to costs for shipping and transport. Surely, you'd think they'd carve out an exception for heavy transport and trucking. What about off-road equipment for construction and agriculture?

Simple resolution. Any state than bans diesel vehicles or equipment will not be allowed to use or consume any goods or food that was produced or transported by the use of diesel powered equipment.

Did a quick search and it seems this is a push to ban SALES of NEW vehicles, both Diesel AND Gasoline powered.

Did not see anything about a ban on USE of existing vehicles of that type.

As single minded as Legislatures can be, I do not think any of them, in their membership Majority at least, are completely out of touch with reality.
