Electric winch

Considering the white rope broke in 2hrs I think we are going to find abuse of the cable. Also if your wire rope broke do not use synthetic. They arnt nearly as abrasion resistant as wire.

How was it rigged? Was the cable wrapped around something with the hook on the cable? And what's up with the lynch pin?

I was wondering about the winch being mounted on top of the FENDERS! Hopefully the other end of the block and tackle is hooked to the drawbar to give it less chance of flipping the tractor!
Overall, a winch is a great thing to have on a tractor, either full time or set up to quick connect when you need it!

I mount my winches on receiver plates, and have 2-inch receivers mounted on the FEL bucket, the fork lift carrier, and a couple of the 3-pt attachments. Ran 4-gauge cable with Anderson connectors to both ends of the tractor.

Hey chim, pass the popcorn!

I'm sorry so long replying, several bushel baskets of popcorn later!
The lynch pin is just a rig job, the original pin fell out somewhere. Winch is mounted on tractor front weight bracket. I'm thinking where the cable snapped was I winched a heavy log then lifted a bit with FEL so I could drag it.

I've been thinking about doing something similar. I often get stuck while plowing and the idea of using a hydraulic winch has possibilities. I plan to mount it on the FEL subframe and power it with the 3rd function valve.

@ptsg did something similar (not on the FEL subframe, but it's a hydraulic winch... which he made ): Hydraulic winch

I hope you used real copper cable and not the cheap CCA. ;)

A few years ago I lucked into a Warn on a receiver hitch. It made me rethink mounting. I've had one winch or another since the mid-70's. All were permanently mounted (out in all the weather). First was an 8K Belleview (power in only), then a Warn 8274 that #3 Son now has on his Cherokee, and finally the Warn XD9000 with wired and wireless remotes. Exposed mounting can cause more than just cosmetic damage. I suppose many prefer prominently mounting a winch and traction boards, rotolok cans, HiLift jacks and other doodads as either a fashion statement or an attempt to portray themselves as real off-roaders when they cruise into the grocery store lot:)

There's also a smaller 3K(?) HF for which I made a mounting plate with a wireless remote. and use for lighter work. It's handy on the loader bucket receiver. The 9K winch, Trailblazer and Kubota all have 350A Anderson connectors wired in with 2/0 copper welding cable. A while back the original steel cable on the Warn was replaced with synthetic.

There are also two 2/0 extensions. One is 25' long and has Anderson connectors on each end. The other is 5-ish feet long with an Anderson connector on one end and Vise Grips on the other. The shorter extension with the Vise Grips provides an exceptional connection to the "jumpee" or use one of the winches on another vehicle. The long extension allows me to park behind a vehicle that needs jumped or winching from either end of the Trailblazer.

The small winch has a permanently-installed harness made from about 12' of a pair of maybe #2 from an old pair of jumpers and an Anderson connector. When used on the receiver of the bucket. it is longer than needed to plug into the tractor.
