How long should things last?

Well… the owners manual for my Model T clearly says not to use a match to check fuel level…

😆 Wasn't there a sight glass on the tank of Model T, basically on the dash? Or only some models?

Under the seat gravity for many models and the oval tank behind the seat for many open cars like speedsters and roadsters…

Model A’s have the cowl gas tank with a sight glass and float gas gage.

The filler cap is just in front of the windshield.

I'm just wondering if the guy who checked his gas tank with a lighter was named Eric because we had a guy here by the name of Eric who checked the gas tank on his motorcycle with a lighter. Didn't kill him.
Nope. I won't post his name.

It was just a matter of time. He'd been caught smoking in the fuel trucks a couple times. The boss wouldn't let me fire him because the boss was friends with the guy's dad.

😯😱😱

Boy that conversation with the boss sounds like the sort of thing that deserves a file memo summarizing the conversation, with a back up copy at home. If I had been your boss's boss, I'd have fired him on the spot for gross lack of managerial judgement.

Makes a memorial story though. I'm glad it turned out so well.

All the best, Peter

I had a case like that, about 10 years ago. Very long story short, it was the VP above me who asked me to fill out a record of discussion, for us to both sign when I had been tasked with ferreting out some false claims and falsified data being presented by another employee in my department. Ironically enough, despite several other problems all much more difficult to use as a means of firing, that document became one of the key pieces of evidence used in supporting the VP's dismissal from the company.

Things got real interesting when the coworker found to be falsifying information sued the company for racial descrimination, citing me and this ex-VP in particular, and I had to go with the lawyers to collect a deposition from the dismissed VP for our defense. :ROFLMAO:

He was cool about it, surprisingly. I think he had time to reflect in-between, and realized he had to go, there were just too many straws on that camel's back for it have to turned out any other way for him. We're somehow still friendly to this day, when we cross paths, I think he realized just how wrong he was for the position he had put me in.

Boss was owner of the company, so.... :cautious:

Not much I could do about it. Saw lots of unsafe things at that job. Plenty of ways to get killed.... thousands and thousands of gallons of fuel, spinning props, sucking jets, all weather operations, sub-par equipment, inadequate safety programs... the job seemed to attract people with mental issues. (looks in mirror).

I LOVED THAT JOB!!! :ROFLMAO:

I'd still be there if it had pay and benefits.
