GM recalls 721K trucks with 6.2L engine

The Dealer just completed the recall on the L87 6.2L engine in my 2022 GMC Sierra 1500, and it checked out ok. They replaced the oil fill cap & filter, Changed the oil to a heavier weight and listened to the engine with a fancy type of stethoscope. Pretty much what the recall notice said.

Still a bit nervous driving it though, listening for any unusual engine sounds. The good news is, I'm covered if there should be a future failure specific to the recall. It's important to keep records proving you used the right oil type though if you change your own oil.

Only a 3% failure rate though so the numbers are on my side. Too bad about the hit on the trade in value.
Would it make more sense to get rid of it now, while under said warranty?
I’d think once the warranty is up, you’re in “no man’s land”.

Not much fun driving something you have to worry about. Maybe your GM dealer will make you a good deal on a similar vehicle with a different motor?

When did I say “half ton”? I said 2500-5500.
Read much?
Your remark implicitly excluded the half ton. My remark explicitly excluded the half ton. So in essence we said the same. Read much ? 🤷🏻

Hey, you were the one who quoted me saying “2500-5500”, implying I left out “half ton”.
Maybe your comprehension skills would benefit from some sharpening?

No, not mine. You didnt comprehend, chose to take offense, and now insult me because running your mouth before putting the brain into gear, made yourself look dumb.

We were actually agreeing about that motor and its purpose, yet somehow you found a reason to make trouble. Just take a deep breath now 😁

I may do just that if the trade in value increases a bit. The warranty period for engines involved in the recall is 10 years or 150K miles. I usually trade my vehicles every 6 or 7 years anyway, so there's no rush.

Get yourself a beautiful Duramax diesel.
What a ride!

Trying to talk my wife into a loaded 3L Duramax Tahoe.
That would be the “ultimate” vehicle to me.

Go for it. The wife's 2025 Tahoe High Country is really nice. If they had had one with the 3.0 Duramax we would have gotten it but went with the 6.2L instead. I have 16,000 miles on my 2024 Yukon Denali with the 3.0 Duramax. It shows a combined mileage of 24 mpg. On the highway I routinely get 30 mpg or better. The best on the DIC is 38 mpg over a 25-mile stretch, 34 mpg over 50 miles.
