I do not have access to a 1602 parts manual but here is what I think. I circled what I believe might be the flange that covers your internal suction screen. That screen would need to be cleaned. If no knowledge of last screw on filter change then it likely should be changed. No idea what condition your used fluid was in so I can't really advise a flushing. If everything was pretty clean looking I probably wouldn't do any flushing. A universal transmission/hydraulic fluid is recommended.
