I don’t like to criticize brands; most are outstanding with current models. But LS has a history of tier 4 emissions problems that far exceeds other brands. Hopefully the current models have addressed these issues.
LS has their challenges but so far it is all good. Seems like every brand including Kubota has had their issues and growing pains. The Shibura engines in the LS has had a lot of issues, the LS motor has some but a lot been the fact they run cold. Never see middle of the range on mine, right 130-140 F engine block temp in 100 F weather. In colder climate they have put in some higher temp thermostats to help.
I added a block sensor because my water temp gauge goes stupid randomly from insane high to no reading. Part of the cluster and too expensive to swap for that alone. Self test on the gauge is random needle movements when it goes dumb.

I like the 10 year warranty on my Yanmar YT359C

I really like the LS tractors I have seen and operated. But there was a number of years when the brand had more tier 4 emissions issues than other brands. Hopefully they have addressed those operating temperature things with current models.

I am happy with mine, once I figured out how the Regen wants to operate. I just hop up RPM to where I want to be and keep the computer out of the loop as much as possible. Pretty near 50 hours between incidents unless I am doing a lot of lower RPM backhoe work. Prefer to slow the reaction of the dipper and swing when working near breakable stuff

The B7100 in the OP is, as best I can tell, 45 years old. I bought it when it was over 20 years old and the hour meter wasn't functional. I've replaced two hour meters on it - Lord knows how many hours total. So these posts about keeping a tractor in service due to parts availability are something I don't take lightly. And I don't think it would be hard to get pistons, rings, bearings and a full gasket set today.

I think I know which direction I am going to chose now. Thanks to all of you for the input. Being without my 'toy tractor' (it's nickname) for a while will be a PITB but I have big bertha.

I understand a lot of this stuff is going away. The OBBB and the changes going on at EPA should end a lot of this stuff.

Yes, and in 4 years when Governor Newsome becomes President Newsome those pollution controls will come back, only be much harsher. (Enter your favorite tree-hugger's name here) Then what? Are we going to have to install DPF/DEF systems on all tractors, new and old, to be able to run them?
