Electricity Price Increases

What’s Nevada’s secret?
Besides Area XX? Hydropower, solar, geothermal, account for just under half (49.8%), and natural gas accounts for almost all of the other half (45.9%).

Easily tapped into, all you have to do is move. Nevada power comes with the territory, so to speak. 😉

All the best, Peter

Is this the foundry that was in Berzerkeley near the frontage road? Sometimes I could smell it, it was not that bad.
Maybe these guys? My favorite pruner. Joost Mfg Co of Berkeley. It was worth repairing when a bogus conduit handle someone had added, needed to be reattached.

Preparing to weld. 'Joost Mfg Co - Berkeley Calif' is legible.

Completed. Lots more leverage, and stress, than an original Corona, but it remains perfectly aligned. A quality tool that is likely older than I am. Joost Mfg is long gone.

And I just have to add - I was once employed in that Berkeley manufacturing region by the freeway. R W Scott O-rings. Many hours blending rubber on a twin roller mill, polishing special order rings on a buffer, plant maintenance.

That’s just a one time snapshot at a certain date, of price change relative to a given previous price, so it’s kind of irrelevant overall.

What your actual rate is , is what’s important, and there’s plenty of states with significantly cheaper electricity rates than Nevada.

Well..... back home again in Indiana.

Electricity generation has decreased about 25% in the past two decades but consumption has only decreased 3%. Couple that with the ability of power companies to pass on the cost of new power plants, conversation to gas, solar, etc... on to customers and there we go... higher prices.

I wish we'd go nuclear and be done with it.

I will take a look to see what Tahoe is per kWh.

Have not had any usage this year so only meter fee.

My father built a house in the 50s with no insulation in the roof. It was just tongue and groove planks with plywood, tarpaper and gravel. I asked why no insulation. He said that back then, natural gas was darn near free. Fast forward to the 70s and 80s and he added insulation as gas bills went to $300 a month. Can't imagine what it would be now, 50 years later.
I have retrofitted my 1971 ranch style as much as possible. When I bought, it didn't have insulation in big parts of the attic, single glazed aluminum frame windows and sliders, uninsulated duct work, and no subfloor insulation. It had a resistive electric furnace. Investing thousands in energy upgrades has a good payback, but it also greatly improved the livability of the house. It was 92 degrees yesterday, we forgot to turn the AC back on, and didn't notice.
