Somewhere on the PowerTrac forum a member made a leaf bucket out of a heating oil tank. It was BIG.

Get the bucket sprayed with bed liner to limit rust.

Be careful with over sized buckets. An overloaded bucket has the ability to break a tractor in half. It happened to a friend when he loaded his 1710 bucket with stone by hand. He was able to put much more stone in the bucket than he could have by loading the bucket with the tractor. When he hit a bump it broke the bell housing into two pieces.

I have a horses and they generate a good amount of manure. Daily I rake up the manure and fill plastic trash cans with it. Then I empty the manure into my tractor bucket and use the tractor to dump the manure into the big dumpster on the street.

Today I came across this dumpster bucket.

It’s oversize, similar to a light/bulk material bucket. It holds about 3X the capacity of my current regular bucket.

It seems like just the ticket to fill and dump manure. The only drawback would be it doesn’t have a scraper edge. Also, it may rust.. but any metal bucket will.

Has anyone used one of these? Are there downsides I don’t yet realize?

With all the manure mentioned, why not just get a manure spreader? When it's full spread it around.

One problem I can see is that if the manure is wet, it may stick in the bucket, then you'll only be able to half fill it each time unless you scrape the stuck stuff out each time. FWIW, how many trips are you making now? If you are making 6 and this will cut it to 2, it might not be worth it. Is there any way to have the dumpster stationed closer to the barn?

I would be a little careful with loading horse manure into a dump trailer using that bucket with the closed front lip. I have horses and make a huge pile to the side of my barn which after a year or so is moved to my pastures and dumped using a dump trailer. I have found that fully loaded my skidsteer can be right on the limits to tip weight wise, and with that front closed lip you would need to raise the bucket high and completely tilt to clear it out, setting yourself up for tipping onto the dump trailer. I would go for a larger bucket without that lip if it were me.
