Yanmar YM1720D
New to tractors, have 5acres and inherited a YM1720D. It does what I need, however I noticed that the front wheels would start dig in when using the FEL. I found an online manual and see that its in 4wd, but when I switch to 2wd it wont move. I can shift out of 4wd smoothly, but getting into 2wd is super stiff/stubborn. Any suggestions on what to look at, or should I just load it up and take it in?

Thanks in advance,

Tractor Noobie

From my parts the YM1720D, Power shift Regulator is my guess. The gasket cover is showing PSG-2451 and my guess there is a screen in the Hyd. Valve itself dirty or clogged. Fredricks #'s Limited on parts for that model.

Are you saying you do not have rear wheel drive? Front wheel drive only?

It sounds like you are saying that the rear wheels are not trying to pull at all- only the front. If that is the case then you likely have a broken brake stub shaft or something wrong with your rear differential. The stub axle shafts were a pretty common problem on those models. They were usually broken when an operator would depress the differential lock when one of the rear wheels were spinning in the mud.

If it were a powershift problem it would not move in 2wd or 4wd.

It's shifting into gear so I don't think you broke any Hard parts ...... Sounds to me like the clutches are slipping. Dirty Screens, Filters, Low Hyd. Oil pressure Etc..
