impressive thread, haven't real all posts.
question: is there a simple 1/2 or 3/4T pickup, domestic or import to US, with no extended cab at all, bench seat, with at least 7'+ long bed?
i'd be surprised, regards

100%, get on Ram build and price, a bare bones, Ram 2500, 4x4, hemi, reg cab, long bed is $48,590. We can even save another $500 by deleting the bed...

Now, I did a fast search for matching vehicles on the lot, and didnt find an in-stock reg cab; but for $53k, we have a 4x4 tradesman, crew, long bed, just up the road. Again, im not saying $53k is cump change, but for the question if a basic, Very capable truck, there are dozens on the lots.

Yes and no. There are dozens on the lots of dealers who have a fleet business sales department. Not many of those on lots of dealers who don’t have a fleet sales focus.

True to some degree; but set that seach radius to 250 miles, and drive to get it. Also, many many dealers have them; they just dont advertise them, or display them. You need to look for them.

#2 could be offset with a longer warranty. I liked that Ram offered a 5YR 60,000 mile warranty on the entire powertrain rather than Ford or GM, which at the time only offered a 5YR, 60K mile warranty on the diesel engine (3yr 36K on the rest of the powertrain). Ford increased their warranty to match Ram. I don’t know what GM does now.

The next manufacturer that offers 10yr 100K on powertrain will get a serious look from me.

Every GMC diesel I have bought had a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty on the engine. I added an Allstate extended warranty through the dealer on all 3 vehicles that takes the diesels out to 10 yrs/100,000 miles, the 6.2 gas motor in the wife's Tahoe extends to 10 yrs/150,000 miles. All have a $100 deductible. My Yukon is the only one that will probably hit mileage before the years, but as we get older I expect some of the mileage per year to slow down.

In 2020 Ram was the only diesel truck with a 5/100 on the powertrain (engine, trans, transfer case, axles, etc).
I incorrectly stated 5yr/60,000 in my previous post when Ram was actually 5yr/100,000 on powertrain IIRC.

I'm kind of think it depends, you get a hd 3/4 or 1 ton with the 6.6 Duramax it's a 5 yr 100k power/ drive train warranty including transmission Transfer case basically everything else in the drivetrain, Besides sensors of course which is subsequently what I've had go wrong with that truck on occasion. You get a 1/2 ton with the small Duramax it's 5 years 60k miles on drive train. If I get a chance I'll dig thru my trucks manuals and see exactly what they offered in 2016. Update per GMC website. Every 2016 and newer 2500/3500 series Heavy Duty (HD) Sierra Pickup equipped with a 6.6L Duramax Turbo- Diesel Engine comes with a 5-year/100,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty and 5-year/100,000-mile 24/7 Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation Programs.

In any case it's confusing however I'm more certain now than before that everything dealing with the drive train/ power train on a 6.6 Duramax is or was covered for 5 yrs 100k besides sensors hoses belts etc. the 3.0 only the engine was covered 5 yrs 100k miles. No transmission, Transfer case differentials only covered for 5 yrs 60k miles. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
