I had quite a few views to this question but no replies. I just wanted to say I continued to search for the drain and I found it. It was a recessed plug full of mud female Allen head on the side of the rail instead of the bottom where it shows in the service manual Problem solved. Hope it helps someone else.

Never saw this post, but okay, glad you found it.

Did you change the filter while you were at it?

Just wanted to say, "That's some nice artwork on the bucket hard facing". (y)

Don’t know what you’re talking about. I just spray paint the whole thing over the rust and everything.

Yes, $70 filter had to cross reference it from new Holland to Napa had a filter sent to me from Steiner. It was 2“ x 3“. My hydraulic filter is 6“ x 6“ but that’s close I guess.

Yes, I’m still working on it waiting for some cheap hydraulic oil to rinse everything out my hydraulic oil I don’t think had ever been changed. It looked like milk and my transmission fluid looked like mud new transmission gasket going in gonna finally put in the neutral switch and hope it’s a little more powerful Now? don’t know how to drain a differential. It has a site plug and a filler cap but nothing on the bottom I may siphon out what I can and then fill it as best. I can any other advice you may have I will always appreciate I’m new to all this 70 years old and got my first Tractor about five years ago so much to learn so little time.

I'm talking about the "Hard Facing" on the bucket edges. But yeah, I agree with you--The paint looks like crap. :giggle:

Look it up if you don't know what it is and why it's done.

Looks like your 4500 industrial doesn’t have the drain port labeled in the manual. Usually, if the port isn’t there, you’ll need to remove the hydraulic tank or use the suction line to pump the old fluid out. Another method is to loosen the return lines at the frame reservoir and let the fluid drain that way, but keep a catch pan handy. Make sure the machine is off and the fluid isn’t hot to avoid burns.
