Girlfriend and her family live in the Philippines. Dengue is fairly common there, and can be deadly.
It can be worse if you get it multiple times, and the goal is prevention. I'm already looking for mosquito nets and some DDT included bug repellent for them as this is the second time in as many years one of her family has had Dengue. (Any suggestions on the spray would be helpful. :) )

She's doing better, hopefully this is the last person in her family to have it.
Sorry about the Dengue...sounds terrible.

Besides DEET discussed below, and spraying permethrin on clothes and hats, picaridin is another option for use on skin. DEET has been known to damage plastics and synthetics (e.g. melt through the fabric on backpacks) so folks often use picaridin. The NP rangers I've talked with spray their clothes with permethrin since it is very effective against ticks and lasts days or weeks.

Other than short-term capital losses and opportunity cost, there's really usually very little to nothing lost in buying and owning another tractor, assuming you have space to store it indoors. Or put more simply, I've never sold a tractor for less than the purchase price... ever.

One caveat in that is I'm not buying a new tractor and selling it shortly thereafter. I'd assume you'll lose money there. But if you're keeping things many years, they tend to always resell for nearly the new purchase price, decades later.

My 1986 Deere 855 with loader ran about $8500 new, and I bought it in 2012 for $8500. I re-sold it in 2019 for $8500.
Yup, pretty much agree. When I sold my Kioti, got back what I paid but also kept the implements. Just amazing how much prices have increased -shocking. I tend to change up after about 1000 hours, plenty of life left for next guy. I’ve had my LS just over 6 years and just under 900 hours, but boy opportunity for a cab was calling me.
A friend was looking over my new Bobcat, asking questions etc. he bought his Kubota in FL as part of their move and saved lots of money. He had a bit of Cab envy so I asked and he said Cab for his was another $18k, mine was about $7k. He asked why I didn’t get a Kubota (Sophie has a BX), had to tell him that I did talk with salesman, but the equivalent K tractor was gonna be about $15k more. Tractor negotiation here is right there with new cars, about NIL.
Most likely, this and Sophies BX will be our last new tractors, but then again who knows what might be tempting in another 5 years or so?

Had a good Costco run this morning, although had a delay that got me there after their 8AM opening in the tire center...needed a rotation and balance...lifetime, included in the price of the tires. Was also having a TPMS issue, so got them to replace the 4 sensors. Gas was $2.66.

Since the main store didn't open 'til 9am, crossed the highway and had a coffee. Then my wife and I filled up two carts (easy with big bags of dog food and bird food) and then off to Torchy's for BOGO tacos.

Buppies, I wish they offered E-0 here, but they don't, only a few places now starting.
in NC it was everywhere, wonderful in all my motors.
Ethanol gas is a good reason to have electric motors
Fortunate here as for availability. Only run E0 in all gas equipment and both car and truck, but haven’t bought new gas engines in some time, tools and Sophie’s Z turn electric. I’m following the Slate truck, just in case. Is it too early to think about a present for my 80th? 😁😁

Good Tractor Morning,
Vt, 58 to start going to 62. Just started raining a few minutes ago and very gusty now. It looks like some shop time is on the agenda for today.

David, beautiful tractor and mower setup. Nothing like an AC cab. Or if you’re out in the field and it starts to rain. David did you say you’re a HAM operator? I need Hawaii for WAS. Ted, I also need Nevada, even though I have worked Nevada before, if the station I worked doesn’t submit the QSO to LoTW then I can’t get credit for that contact. Just a bit frustrating 😉

Had a nice dinner out with friends last night, but it was a fairly early night, they had worked hard in the afternoon after splitting and stacking wood and after dinner they just wanted to get home.

That’s about it for now, hope all have a good start to their week 🙏
Thanks Scott.
Well, just sorta. I do have my license. WH6FSO
Back when John and Diane were building their house and living at the Cottage they were in CERT along with some other friends. Tried their darndest to get me involved, but I resisted, saying due to our location was more than willing to be a resource. So when the CERT group arranged for instruction and testing I acquiesced. Passed (maxed test) but didn’t buy a radio. Actually the instructor lives just up the road and 2 other operators on the street.
I am on an email list from a local guy that organizes. I will contact him of your interest and PM you his email. I would expect he knows who actively does Morse code. PM me your email and call sign and I will include that in mine.

Permethrin will last through about 6 washes and still be effective. I get mine at a local feed store for horses.

I use Shell V-power premium gas for the small engines. Shell advertises that it is 0 ethanol.

I am taking a serious look at Ubuntu and Linux instead of going with Winders 11.

Nothing got done today, rained all day.

John Cleese didn't disappoint, full house at the Keswick.
Nice! Looks like the renovation is basically complete? I remember going there many times during the heat of it, as it dragged on for years.

I still saw areas being worked on, but most of the walls and stage left seem to be complete. Lest time we were there some painting was being done on stage left. Ceiling looks pretty much complete.

70°F and .02 inches rain

Only watched morning football then changed gears to get some mowing. Seems I was cheering the losing teams, mowing was more productive.

In over 20 years fracturing on this island never lost a top link pin until this week. Lost 2 in less than 10 hours.

After some discussion I think we figured out why. Guessing the hydraulic hoses manage to catch and release the Lynch pinch. Simple solution will be reorient pin. But I’m adding a dummy cord string anyway.

Assuming it dries out will be hitting the mowing this morning in hopes of finishing the Laupahoehoe end of property, about 3 hours.

Happy Hour in town this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great tractor day
I have used a bolt and nylock nut on some
