I guess if the juice is worth the squeeze.
6K into a truck worth??? What were you asking?

And you were going to sell it to me with a CP-4????
Shame on you.
We’re not buddies anymore. 😁
20 k with a completely functional cp4 you said you couldn't do it right now. Heck dealerships would have given me that for trade with the cp4, If you did the math and research you'd see that the price id let it go for on a pretty well maintained fully functional truck would have fully paid for the cp3 upgrade in equity off the bat. But that's how I think granted I didn't have a firm price on a cp3 upgrade cost at that time. Anyways you spend almost ten years making something how you want it, it kind of grows on you. Last I checked a month ago book was over 27k.

I’d skip that video just based on the looks of that guy. lol
Your loss. He runs a big shop that people will travel a distance because of his reputation.

Dave is considered on of the best diesel engine builders in the country with people shipping their trucks from all over the country for him to replace the engine, and do CP4 conversions along with other work.

Good for him, but I’ve no use for him. If I need diesel work done, there’s 10 reputable shops within 10 miles of me. No need to spend thousands in shipping.
Just had a head & head gasket done on a much bigger diesel engine and it was done locally and perfectly.

Why spend all that time & hassle shipping diesel engines or heavy parts?

You must realize there are good and bad repair shops out there employing good and bad mechanics. If someone makes it specializing in a certain area or engine brand they are good in this day and age especially with the way info flows across the internet. Btw I was kinda on the fence selling that truck especially after you didn't, couldn't, or wouldn't buy it and the last guy I offered it to apparently thought I was a local financial institution. anyway after that I only made the decision to keep it after getting out of my one ton I ordered. Imo even with the current cp4 working like it should currently it is a good truck at what I thought was offered at a good fair price. I'll enjoy using it to plow and haul a few loads of gravel over the years.

Yeah, like I know that. I just think it’s kinda silly to send a basic diesel engine to someone across the country for a rebuild or repair when there’s probably at least a handful of very capable diesel mechanics in just about every town across America. Now if we’re talking about hot-rodding type of building, well that’s a little different. But we have plenty of them around my area, too.

I’d rather have a reg cab for plowing. To be honest, once I saw your pics and saw it was a CC, I was mostly out, but reg cabs are tough to find. Customer still hasn’t committed to a plowing contractor.

This is more like what I’d plow with. Not as nice as your truck, but for 9 grand, it’ll cost less than a new plow set up.

Unless someone has a horror story of a cp3 conversion or a better bolt on alternative that won't self destruct I won't post on here again til I at least get it done and evaluate a little while. But it definitely looks like I'll get the cp3 conversion done by a reputable local shop Specializing in Duramax engines Even If not needed yet just to give me a more worry free reliable truck with confidence to add functional albeit some expensive like a dumper dogg, plow, and other useful accessories to it.

You aren’t going to send it to the guy ruffdogg recommends?
He’s the best in the country. 😁

In all seriousness, I wouldn’t bother. They only have like a 4% failure rate. On a truck as old as yours, it’s probably not worth it. The juice won’t be worth the squeeze.

Just trade it in on a new Ram and you’ll be smiling ear to ear with your new plow & dumper doggg
