Chinese digger recommendations

It now mentions a piston travel motor. What exactly is that? I’m hoping it is planetary travel motors. I’m concerned about freewheeling downhill.

Yesterday, the Typhon website mentioned something about a plunger pump. 🤷🏻‍♂️
A piston-type travel motor is what is used in HST tractors. In branded (and large Chinese) excavators, the piston motor drives a planetary gearset, which turns the drive sprocket. Both are in the housing you see that surrounds the sprocket. It is possible to drive the sprocket directly with a piston-type motor, but I don't think anyone does that.

On branded excavators, the travel motors usually have a 2-position swash plate piston motor, electrically-controlled, and a friction brake.

I suspect Typhon's "plunger" is a piston.

Is this a new low for an auction closing price in the US?

Our large local monthly equipment auction yesterday reported a closing price of only $1900 for a new 1-ton mini. This one is labeled VICSEC VC12, and seems to be made by HighTop.

An interesting development on this machine is the use of very large bogie wheels and an EXTERNAL mechanical track tensioner.

WARNING, WARNING..DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!
It's a scam.
This is another example of something I have been seeing a lot of in various advertisements for equipment sellers. Typically, they are very professional looking web-sites with pictures of equipment in nice condition in nice brick-and-mortar facilities with prices seemingly too good to be true. But...when you google map the address they provide, the facility is almost never even close to being an equipment dealer. This one youre talking about shows as Hamilton Self Storage which, if you look up the storage facility, it is listed as 939 Rasco Rd, the same address as the Machneex.com company listed.
I have seen these scams so often that I don't know why the BBB (doing the same research as I did) can't call BS and warn people that it is a scam.

There's another review on the XIX you may have seen with reference to the three stage Parker Pumps here Feedback
Thanks for sharing. Even better specs. Just waiting for the new year to hit.

Had no idea what they were. Thanks.

Looking at the SHY20 (better machine) I can’t really justify the $7k difference between it and the XIX.

Besides better hydraulic pump the SHY20 digs a foot deeper and the tracks extend about 3 inches more but everything else is somewhat similar. I haven’t seen both in person but build quality seems similar.

That being said, the XIX is a direct competitor to the SHY15 and in that case, I would still pick the XIX.

Thoughts?

The new year is here and it is time for me to make a pick and order a machine. I am still undecided. I'm leaning towards the TT XIX but have too many projects this year and will need several attachments, making the Tyrant 17 and the 12 attachments it comes with a very compelling choice. Both the XIX and Tyrant have a 45.27 track width but the XIX is retractable. My initial choice was the Huayee 18b but they jacked up the price. Actually the Huayee prices are all over the place on Temu, from $13k to $20K. I have no use for a narrow tracked mini. The XIX has superior hydraulics but with the attachments I want it would creep up closer to $16K vs less than $12k for the Tyrant off eBay. Decisions, decisions! Happy New Year!

P.S. Looking at the Tyrant and the XIX, they both look like variation of the Hightop HT18U. The Hightop website is pretty scarce in details for both machines.

Tyrant 17 1100 MM width = 43" XIX -1150 45"
Tyrant - Open wheel motors - XIX Enclosed piston Type - safer and faster travel
Tyrant Flow 18+8=26 LPM XIX 35+3 (20 LPM more) Parker 3 Gear Pump setup
Slew Motor Control Tyrant - none - XIX - Controlled/Hyd braking relief valving
XIX has better hydraulics overall and that cannot be upgraded on the Tyrant easily

The differences are substantial, and IMO - higher travel speed, piston motors, 3 pump hydraulic are worth the $2K difference. Then look at the implements you need - you can buy - Auger, Tliting Bucket, 8" Bucket, rock bucket all in for less than $1K on eBay.

Bottom line, make an offer for the XIX and explain you are looking at Tyrant 17 too and want the same implements for X price, all in delivered - you may be pleasantly surprised. IMO, $13.5K total would be a good deal for the XIX

I like the idea of making an offer on the XIX. As far as attachments, all I need is an auger, ripper, tilting bucket, 8" trenching bucket, quick attach and maybe a wide plain bucket.
