MF 231S hydraulic steering cylinder leak

All the fluid in the steering circuit has leaked out past the seals in the steering cylinder located behind the radiator. Can this cylinder be rebuilt? Looks like there are snap rings holding in the seal leading me to believe it can be reconditioned. Any comments? Is there a kit available to...

    Who rides motorcycles?

My first BMW was a box full of broken R50. There is something about the boxer engine that makes it run forever with little maintenance and noise. Those older airheads are still doing fine. I decided to pressure wash both my 2001 GS and the new 2002 R. Of course I stay away from the electrics...

Daughter has just tried and discovered the clutch friction zone. The throttle however is another story. She hits 4000 RPM just getting rolling. More practice needed.

    Who rides motorcycles?

Just completed a fly and ride for an Ebay 2002 BMW R1150R in Wilmington, NC. The seller is an engineer, did all his own work, 15,000 miles, runs like new, rode back to Alabama. It's a ball. Got into a duel with a girl on a Suzuki dualsport near Florence, SC. She was filtering through traffic, so...

    Who rides motorcycles?

On most H-Ds, you cannot hear anything with the engine running...H-D, the best way to convert gasoline to noise without the benefit of work. But any bike is better than no bike. Get one. Gas is gonna go through the roof.

Seen on a billboard on I-294 in WI during H-Ds anniversary years ago, "We would wish you happy anniversary, but you wouldn't hear us. BMW Motorrad."

    Who rides motorcycles?

Those Airheads are great. I had a R50 years ago. Bot it for $50.00 with the RH cylinder broken off, rod bent, piston missing. Took it to ABT in Chgo. Rod straightened, new piston, cylinder. Never leaked or used oil but it wouldn't get out of it won way (~30 HP). Used to ride it WOT most...

    Who rides motorcycles?

Well, I just won the bidding on ebay for a 2002 BMW R1150R with 15000 miles. For those of you who are not BMW savvy, this model uses the well-known boxer engine with cylinders sticking out the side. The boxer engine of the era in question is known as the "Oilhead", one of BMWs most reliable...

Gunk/Varnish Build Up On Engine Oil Plug

Anneal the copper washer with a torch and reuse it. I have done that with copper head gaskets on my motorcycle engine for years with no issues. Some factories recommend it. As for engine oil, I never use the factory recommended house brand oil. I have no idea who makes the Mahindra oil. Using a...

    WoodMaxx Flail - Early Issues

I would say you definitely have a warranty issue with Woodmaxx. I have been considering purchasing one of their flail mowers but, this is concerning. If this was overlooked at the factory and it most likely was, their quality control is in need of an overhaul...this is made in China quality (or...

    Fuel tank cleaning

Purchase one gallon of Super Clean at Walmart (less than $10.00). Ad it 1:1 (use water) to empty fuel tank. Agitate. Rinse with water. Dry. Change fuel filter and fill with fresh fuel. Use caution. Super Clean is a very aggressive cleaner containing harsh chemicals that can damage skin.
