Our winters are like that here the past few years just wet and mud. It never freezes anymore makes trying to use the tractor tough. I do not care for the cold but I would take frozen for a few months over rain and mud for months on end.
my brother had some trees taken down at his house and he doesn't burn so I helped him clean it up and ended up with three truck loads. Sassafras, and tulip, nice for early and late burn seasons.
I ended up with 3 truck loads of oak from a buddy. it was cloase to 3 foot diameter and he needed someone with a big saw to help cut it up and he wanted it gone so a win win for everyone.
I move four more truck loads of all locust. I was hoping to cut this weekend but I was called in to work. I'm hoping to get some time in the woods in the next few weeks.
I ended up with 3 truck loads from this little score. Who ever cleared out some trees around one of our substations cut the trees down and just pushed them into a pile off to the side. I was told I could have what I wanted so one of the guys at work used the skid steer to pull the locust trees...
I put the 660 to work this weekend and had my buddy in the woods with me he tore his right front pad up pretty good. We were able to get it all the ash logs I had left cut and stacked. Now I'll have to get to the locust piles. Saturday was a good day to be in the woods.
I had to wait a little to get my EA grapple. It's worth the wait. I love the grapple very light and tough as nails. There is a reason they have a wait time!
I have been looking at a set of chains for my tractor but I'm not sure where to begin. My tractor path to the woods and my lower two sections of yard becomes very difficult to get up in the winter when the snow gets packed or it is icy. I'm just wondering if anyone has any certain suggestions...
