    Wife said what?!?!

Good idea to start (with you don't already), recording everything you spend money on. When I lost my good paying job a while back, I had to learn how to live on less. It's amazing, to see where the money goes! Needs vs wants. I have way more tools than most people would ever want! Tools I...

End of season strategy for gravel surfaces?

I guess I failed to mention, the type of gravel driveway I have! In the past when I had 3/4" loose gravel roadway, it was a maintenance nightmare. On my current farm, the local quarry has been working on their granite gravel formula, gravel size and amount of granite dust. It's now called...

End of season strategy for gravel surfaces?

For family and friends that don't have 4 WD, I run over my lane with studded ice chains on agricultural tires. Chops it up nice and gives it a rough traction surface, when it freezes again. Can be a rough ride for some, but nobody gets stuck!

    7.5 x 16 tire replacement on a Case 580 CK

Helping my neighbor with his his Case 580 Construction King backhoe loader, over 10,000lbs. Looks like original tires on the front, 7.5 x 16, in bad shape. Want to know what options exist for replacement. Used radial? Wider industrial? Stick with bias ply? At least 10 ply? The rear tires...

Oil shelf Life -how to know the best before date!

Cleaning up, I discovered a 5 litre jug of full synthetic oil that had not been opened. I need 9.5 litres for a change. On a couple of threads I read, suggested that oil has a shelf life, due to the additives breaking down. Another concern, I had, was that the manufacture of this version of...

What would these tire chains fit??

I bought some studded tire chains that are too wide for my tires. They are 26" wide, 11 studded ( 3/8 ) links with a non-studded link and cross hook link on each end. The chains are 66" long, 35 side chain links that are 3/16. The latching device arm isn't included in the length measurement...

MF 1455 tractor fuel pump relocation after the fuel filter

I need to replace a leaking fuel pump. Currently my pump is before the fuel filter, that's the way the earlier models were. I would like to move things around, so that filtered fuel goes through the pump! It would be nice to see a picture, of how I could sent it up, if someone has that...

Leaking fuel pump (?) on a MF 1455

While I was working on another problem, I discovered that I was leaking diesel fuel! At first it was the leaking from the hose connection at the bottom of the fuel pump. That moved to the hose connection at the top of the fuel pump. Then it moved to the lever that allows one to removed the...

Joy stick control of the dual remotes

Changed from a Mf 35 to a Mf 1455. I'm not liking the complexities of the newer tractor. It has a 1040 loader with a loader mounted joy stick. On the right side of the seat is another joy stick to operate the dual remotes on the back of the tractor. From top to bottom, the remotes are...

    good day, eh?

MY old girl, 1963 Mf35 deluxe , 4 cylinder gas, US made, is in the process of being "refreshed", with repairs and or new parts. I've redone the hydraulics (new pump, lift cylinder etc.), lift arms and linkages. next year it's the steering and any loose linkages. There doesn't seem to be too...
