Got myself a W.R. Long 2-spool remote kit for my L3710 HST ROPS. It came with comprehensive installation instructions. One page.

I didn't know these things required electricity, because, hello, hydraulics. The instructions say, "Connect the red wire to a hot wire on your tractor." You know. Just pick one, because we're too busy to suggest one.

Anyone got a suggestion for which wire to use? This thing will be on the right side of the tractor mounted to the ROPS.

It says to mount the switch box above my right fender. Somewhere. I guess they mean to bolt it to the fender. If anyone has found a good pitfall-free location for this box or one like it, I would appreciate hearing about it. I can just see myself bolting it down and then realizing there is some unforeseen reason why I have to move it.

When this is done, the very large bullet will be bitten, and the flail mower will be bought.

The red wire can be run to the + on the battery or, better yet, the top, big post of the starter. Install a 15 amp fuse inline if one isn't supplied.

Watch this video to get some ideas on the box mount and wiring:

That appears to be a 3rd-function installation, but thanks. Somewhere down the line, I saw instructions saying to bolt the switch to the top of the fender, so I'll do that.

Now there are new questions.

I had to replace the hose that was attached to the PB port on my loader, using W.R. Long's longer hose to run from the PB port to the P port on W.R. Long's valve. I did that. Routing is a little crude, but I can fix that.

1. The hose that used to be attached to my PB port runs to a T fitting under my floorboard. The W.R. Long instructions say to run a hose from that T fitting to the T port on the new remote valve. The supplied hose is pretty short, and the distance from the T fitting to the T port really requires maybe 5 feet of hose. I am not sure how familiar W.R. Long's people are with my tractor.

2. My PB outlet is very close to the floorboard of my tractor. The new hose actually touches it and applies a little pressure. Should I get a fitting to go around it? Will the pressure of the floorboard against the hose cause damage later on?

The diagram supplied to show how to attach the new valve to my ROPS shows a method which is physically impossible, which is odd, but the parts work if you ignore the diagram.

I found a diagram from a Summit system, which makes the whole thing very easy to understand. I am hoping Tractor Supply will have a hose of the right length.

Things have gotten worse.

Tractor Supply has 1/2" hoses, but they are male on both ends, and they don't have adaptors that will connect the hoses to the valve. Can someone here tell me what kind of male threads these valves have? I think the hoses are NPT.

I think the male threads on the valve are JIC flare threads.

Based on information from a site selling Kubota parts, these hoses are 1/2" with 1/2" JIC female fittings on the ends. The threads on these fittings are 3/4" in diameter, and they're straight.

Go to Napa and have a hose made to your needs

Thanks for the tip. Someone else told me earlier. There is an O'Reilly near me that makes hoses.

Well, these places will charge me about $130 for the hose I need. I am going to call W.R. Long and see if they will send me one instead.
