Not sure I like the fact they are a 4 stroke with no oil sump.
Like you, I'm having some serious issues (possibly just mental, though) about A) A 4 stroker with mix and B) the lack of an oil sump. I get it though, diesel is just a dirty mix of oil & a form of gas (yes, I know that's a stretch) without sumps and 2 strokers don't have sumps.

I guess my biggest issue with these is, if you have to have pre-mix, why not stick with a 2 stroker? More torque, in some cases more fuel efficient, etc.

Maybe I'm just getting old and set in my ways. Nah, I'm still just a young whipper-snapper at 66. 😂😁🤣

In response to the better connection system that Stihl uses, compared to the Echo. Below is Echo's that using a pin. The camp will not compress the connector onto the tools shaft. It stays slightly lose and its lock pin is harder to get tools on/off. Have broke them. View attachment 3619259View attachment 3619260

Below is Stihl's Kombi system. They use key and keyway system to keep it from spinning, then the camp does compress onto the tools shaft. These are much easier to get on/off and the drive shafts ends are designed differently and goes together better.

Something is wrong if the clamp isn't tightening down on the tools shaft, if you weren't able to get it tight and the pin was the only thing holding it I can see where you would be having problems.
The pin is only there for rough alignment, not to hold the attachment.

Did you address the issue with your dealer?

Are you sure? I own 4 and we started using them 20 years ago, and they did the same back then. (Different machines) Echo designed the pin to hold it on. The casting has a spacer on it to keep you from crushing the tool shaft when you tighten them down. Check with your echo dealership. I do like stihl clamps better.

I own a PAS266 and have used other Echo pas units, all tighten down on the tool and have no play. On mine, once tight, the pin could be left locked open and it wouldn't make a difference.

I have a mixture of Stihl, Echo and Husqvarna power tools for trimmers, brush cutters, etc. For the Kombi systems I have both Echo 2620 and 266. Both have been flawless and enjoy the attachments. I also have an Ergo battery trimmer for just quick trimming around the pool and house. I love it for just quick jobs. Light and so quick to use but yeah, like you said it would get really costly to have enough batteries for serious run times. I only got it because I got the leaf blower too as a combo deal. Leaf blower handy to dry off car/truck/motorcycles after washing and blow out garage.

My cans are well marked in LARGE letters but apparently I cannot read my own labels or writing 🤨. Blaming SWMBO, she will not pick up any gas powered equipment, to heavy, even some of the battery tools the weight is complained about. So she bought her own lightest weight tools she could find, so she has hers and I have mine and any screw up... it's all on me. 😬

It took me longer than 10 years but I finally learned ALL mistakes are my mistakes... because I should have known my help was needed.

Sometimes we can be slow learners.

I stumbled on old song that I sometimes play for the wife as a better option than arguing with her when she is clearly wrong. She usually leaves my presence so I do not get to see her laughing.

I google it on the speaker when she thinks she is winning a debate

I think is is from 1962 and by Count Basie and is called

Alright, Okay, You Win

I have a KM130 bought new in 2014. I've had zero problems with it and can highly recommend a Kombi tool. It starts every time on the first or second pull and runs like a champ. I've got the weed whacker with two solid blades and string trimmer, the chain saw, leaf blower, rubber brush sweep, hedge trimmer and an extension shaft. I use only the Stihl two stroke oil with 90 octane ethanol free gas. Can't say enough good things about this piece of equipment.

I have a Stihl KM-131 that I've had for 3+ years now. It has been completely trouble-free. I have many attachments for it. Some get used frequently (string trimmer, brush blade), some less often (cultivator, rubber brush). I like that it is very powerful and just simple and reliable. I've also had a Stihl BR-600 backpack blower for maybe 8 years. Bought it used. It has likewise been trouble-free and just works. When I buy stuff I like to buy something more capable than I need in the hopes that I never outgrow it.

The Stihl 4Mix engines are awesome. I've had my KM130 (Kombi unit) for 10 years now, it has been flawless and is by far the easiest starting tool I have and its unmatched in power. The downside is they are heavy, I used to use this as my main trimmer when I was doing lawncare but eventually picked up a lightweight trimmer just for the weekly trimming. But for the heavy work like brush cutting, tree trimming, edging and everything else I used it for its unstoppable. My Stihl blower is 4Mix also and I really prefer to listen to that for hours on end every fall over my 2 stroke blowers. Run good synthetic oil (I used to run the Stihl HP Ultra, now Amsoil Saber) and they will run like a top.
