New Woods rotary cutter - can't slide the plastic PTO guard out of the way

I have removed (or "modified") the guard on all my implements that have a PTO guard. I'm not dumb enough to get behind my tractor (or let anyone else) when the PTO is engaged! In fact, I prefer the tractor's not running if I'm behind it.

If you grease the tubes like that with #2 grease on my snowblower you will play hell getting it to slide when hooking up in the winter. May work nice in the summer but not the winter.

Unhook drive shaft, grease ujoint then re-install drive shaft then wash up..

That may be all and good for the end that attaches to the PTO but there is a grease fitting back next to the cutting head that needs grease too.

Thanks OP, I was just thinking about this yesterday. I have a newer Woods cutter like yours and it has always been a pain to grease the joint at the gear box. I have pushed, pried, and banged on those stupid buttons ever since I have had it and nothing has ever happened. I finally cut a small hole in the cover with a hole saw to get to the fitting. The one at the PTO is a pain also and thought about cutting it off but have been able to jockey my body in-between the cutter and the tractor to get it connected, but it is a pain to do so. I keep the bush hog hooked up about 6 or 7 months out of the year so it's not something I have to do every day. If I did, I would rip it off in a minute.
