That's the nice thing about having oil filters on them. Pull the filter and all oil drains out. Filling is a little more complicated but not pulling motors out complicated.

Metal will block the signals. Concrete block and brick same problem. For best application outside you want at least an external antenna attached to any unit. Clear line of site makes a difference when the power output is only 1/4 watt.

I buy the biggest battery that will fit the tray. Measure it up and go to Walmart and measure them on the shelf. Make sure you get the terminals on the right sides too !

That looks to me like a metal plate from when the machine was assembled. Probably a stamped plate that came with some parts in a box that got assembled and was stuck to it. Just got inside unit and ground up. It happens.
