Low center of gravity tractor: not the John Deere 5060E

I think the OP was referring to the JD 4320 compact tractor. I have one and it is very stable. I think that it's about 4000lbs.

John Deere 430 I just bought

I bought a used one a few years ago. It had some problems, but it was a beast. The hydro lever creeped, the power steering leaked, and the pivot on the front axle needed a bushing which I could not find. It would wonder all over. Finally sold it after a year and bought a Kubota BX2680.

Sounds to me like a new pup or new baby was introduced into his old family and he did not like that he was suddenly less important. Some people have a way of loving the new and putting the old to the side because it's not shiny anymore. Then the family decides that his behavior is too much, and...

Pros to having a riding mower over a zero-turn

I went to town last week and on my way, I saw a guy getting his ZTM pulled out of low spot with a pickup. On my way back I saw the same guy getting the same mower pulled out of another area by a pickup. It appears that they get stuck much easier than tractors. That area was a church lawn and not...

4320 Coolant Leak from Timing Cover advise please

It appears I had no timing cover leak. All the coolant was from the water pump which the bearing and seal gave out. It was a pain in the butt. Had to cut the bottom bolts off the radiator to get it out. Then remove the shroud, fan and pully. JD soaked me $317.00 for a new pump and I had to...

If all you have is an acre, and not many obstacles, you could try a rear finish mower. I had one for years and it worked fine. You do have to be aware that's its back there when you're turning. I had a bunch of stuff to mow around, so I eventually went to a smaller tractor with a belly mower.

atv and utv year-around use (and in snow)

I had a Yamaha Wolverine 350. I had a bunch of fun on it, but it was not practical for any work without a trailer. Then I bought my first tractor loader combo. I still don't know what I did all those years without one. It's great, but still not the do all vehicle. Now I have the Kawasaki Mule...

Is that your tractor in your avatar? If so, I assume you got the loader as well. If not, then that would be the first implement I would recommend you get. They are invaluable. Dave

Being your first diesel anything, you probably should get some yellow fuel cans. Nothing like draining the fuel because you put gas in there. Don't ask how I know. Dave

Tire Chains for Traction on Turf Tires - Areas Beyond Snow?

What kind of tire size and chain size are you talking? Ladder chains with a cross chain every other link make a big difference. Its like riding on only the chain. Also the size of the chain makes a bid difference. Small diameter chains don't stick up as high. The OP has the same size tractor as...

Tire Chains for Traction on Turf Tires - Areas Beyond Snow?

That is not correct. I have no bounce with the ladder chains. They ride very smoothly. If you look at my pic, they have V-bars welded to them and offer outstanding traction on ice.

Tire Chains for Traction on Turf Tires - Areas Beyond Snow?

I have the same tires as you on my Kubota BX2680. I have been stuck a couple of times mowing some of my trails. I just avoid those areas till it dries up enough. Winter on the other hand is different. I put chains on all four tires. Dave

I have many wild apple trees on my property. This one holds its fruit very late. The others dropped their apples almost two months ago. What gives with this tree? Dave

    John Deere Proprietary Belts?

Here's is a pic of my dad's old 316. I recall him bitching about the price of a new muffler 30 years ago. This was his solution. Pretty sure the thunderbird hood ornament gave it more power. I don't remember him or myself wrenching on it much. It was a pretty damn good tractor. I sold it after...

    You "Road" Your Tractor?

I used to work at the Lewiston bridge in Lewiston NY. If you were going to export a self-propelled vehicle to Canada in the port of Buffalo, you had to do it there. Mostly, we would get cars, trucks, and heavy machinery on flatbeds. One day this young Canadian gentleman showed up with a tractor...

MX seat is giving up the ghost, replacements?

I had to replace my BX seat because it was killing my back. I could not get out of bed the day after mowing. I purchased a Grammer suspension seat. It made all the difference in the world. I also got some of this UV protectant.

    Mowing With Compact Tractors

I got me one of those new-fangled Bx's with the auto steer. It has made my life so much better and does a great job on the lawn. Every once in a while, it misses a spot. Don't excited though, it will self-correct without any input from you. Trust me on that one. Dave Automatic lawn mower

Tractor (BX23 for example) on trailer - how to chock?

I don't have any experience in towing, but it seems to me that chocking the tires would be a dangerous thing to do. What keeps the chocks from flying off, if the tractor moves a bit? Dave

LED Electrical question on my JD?

Hi all, I recently replaced the amber and red lightbulbs on my ropes with LEDS. I have a JD 4320 and it is giving me error codes 61 & 65. The lights work great, but now I have a flashing light on my dash and error codes, but only for the right side. Is this something I should worry about? I...

    Cleaning woodstove glass

I burn coal. I had to replace my glass because I used glass cleaners with ammonia. They yellowed the glass to the point you could not see the fire. Now I just use white vinegar and a paper towel. Haven't had a problem since.
