I no longer have a tractor, wagon shed. In Jan 2 dead trees fell on it. It's been to muddy to do much other than get estimates on rebuilding. Meanwhile my tractor shares the garage with my40' MH, 1932 Chevy, and pickup. I still have room to work on everything though.

Clean the PTO splines with Acetone to remove all paint. If the paint is a heavy coat, wrap the splines with a rag, then soak it in Acetone, outside of course.

That sounds like your belt is too narrow. A V-belt should be 1/16" wider than the pulleys at the widest point. A V-belt should never run on the bottom of the pulley, the V sides are the traction point.

You must begin with curly maple, then saw it correctly; the oil enhances the unusual grain pattern. I have an old Kentucky long rifle with the stock made from curly maple. Linseed oil raised the grain.

My MF 135 had head studs instead of bolts. After 53 years the studs were rusted to the head. I had to soak them with PB Blaster every time I was near the tractor for a week. Then I still had to use a bar to pry the head off the studs.

Just my opinion; this is the main reason I don't buy hydrostatic drive tractors, with my ZTR mower I had no choice.

Mine are the style that the ring pushes in when connecting. One of them, I always have to use a screwdriver to push the ring in when connecting. This minor inconvenience is better than spending $70 for a new replacement.
