    That's what I use as well. I have 2 of them. One for each truck. Note that the weight changes when you move the vehicle a little most of the time. So I move ahead a few feet and recheck. It normally increases but not always.

    Always carry a valid spare tire and tools to change it.

    Harsh ride lousy traction and very noisy. They suck. I took them off both of my Vettes. A base C6 Vette will run a 1 second quicker quarter mile just from that. I can go full throttle at about 5 MPH in mine now. Used to have to be going at least 30 with the run flats. They are way too stiff.

    Release the quickly reapply the brakes and the ABS won't work. I have to do it all the time in semis. That stuff is dangerous on big trucks. Unfortunately the trailer brakes don't normally Release quickly enough but at least I have full tractor brakes. It works on cars and pickups too.

    The way the G80 works is mechanical. I don't see how it wouldn't work above 30. The one in my 2003 2500HD will lock at freeway speeds. But it has ABS and no traction control.

    Yeah that stuff is amazing. On my Vette you can turn it off unlike most cars. Just hold the traction control button down until the 3rd phase. I did that once and did some spirited driving. I won't be doing that again. With that power to weigh ratio things get out of control fast.

    Around here someone would take it for firewood. I would. I got several loads of logs a few weeks ago for firewood. Free wood is always good. He loaded it with his tractor and I unloaded it with mine. Well some I dumped on the ground with my trailer and stacked with my tractor.

    I don't cut them. I get velcro straps from Amazon and use that to hold the excess in place. It also keeps the straps neatly coiled in storage. There are times I need the length and am glad I didn't cut them. You can see the end of the strap coiled and secured in the photo.

    I couldn't get a good photo because my door window is too high. I wanted to get ahead of him. The canopy and truck room are badly caved in. If one of those aluminum bows in the canopy breaks it's all coming off. It's strapped to the truck frame so the straps will just fall off.

    Yeah I also was grandfathered in. But the schools are not very good. I am the trainer at our place and fail most of them on the drive test. The ones we do hire I find a lot of what they were taught only works in optimal conditions. Get them somewhere tight and they are lost.

    DEF is not hazmat. I picked up 11 of those totes there that day and no placards needed. It's not even class 9 although it probably should be as if spilled in water transport it would kill fish. But it's not.

    A farm is a business. Anyone needing a tote of that is a business. That makes it commercial under Federal and state law. Plus it's not secured. But for a pickup hauling that for any business a class C with a tank endorsement is required even a farm.

    I also should mention the straps on the truck are 1" commercial grade rated at 2300 pounds each. They are much thicker than cheap 1" straps. They are expensive but it's worth it because they fit the anchor points in the truck bed. And it's not squatting. I don't like how those 2500HDs look up...

    That looks like a 6 lug 5k axle. That load would be a lot for 2 3.5k axles. Although I have hauled about that much in my 7k dump trailer 70 miles several loads of maple a friend gave me. Maybe not quite that much. Wet maple is heavy.

    Ouch! I am glad I have a tilt deck. I added hydraulic lift to it so I can actually push down on the back of the tow rig. Although the Reason I added the hydraulic setup is I can drive pallets up on the deck one at a time with my tractor without the front dropping.

    Is the generator bigger than you need now? You will only get about 80% out of if with propane. So if it doesn't have extra capacity you will find it be too small.

    It looks like the wind bent it and it won't roll up. The support arms are up but not enough. If you don't put them away during wind it bends stuff and the parts don't nest together. It won't roll up if that happens. They should have just removed it.

    Not the endorsement. The federal and state permits and insurance. Both are required for private as well. You need a lot more general liability insurance.

    Except that would put you under all the hazmat regs even if private. If you are not already subject to them it would be a huge annual expense. Gotta stay under 1k pounds. Unless the tank is dir3ct fuel for the truck and mounted on the truck.

    That's that's another way to look at it. I doubt there are any parts in the 30s the are in the 80 85s. IRRC the 80 and 85 are pretty similar except the clutch packs and a few other parts. Both are very solid transmissions.

    I was under the impression that all 8.1s had the 5 speed Allison 1000. The 4L85 is a 4 speed transmission. The first number is the number of gears.     Especially when it's why would you use straps not chains? If the straps are rated for the load they are fine. But some on here say they are not. 2 of my straps at straight pull ( Half of rated capacity ) is more than my tractor weighs. So 4 is plenty secure.

    It also protects the wimpy receiver on my 1500. It's only rated at 700 pounds without a WD hitch. I replaced the one that came on my 2500HD with a Curt rated at 2400 tounge weight with or without a WD hitch so it is just to be sure the trailer is loaded right to make it safe.

    It's perfectly legal to haul them on their side. We haul them on pallets that way all the time. They just need to be secured and have the caps over the valves. That's how they ship them full or empty.

    Actually I shouldn't have said above 5 mph. But at freeway speeds they are useless. I had the emergency air line rupture at 60 mph. Within seconds I could just keep driving if I wanted to. Until the brakes caught fire. It did nothing to slow the truck down. And it wasn't loaded very heavy.

    I like to see clean GMT 800 trucks. I have a 2003 I bought new. I really like the truck. So much so that when I bought a new truck I kept it. The new truck is a 1500 so it's nice to still have a 2500HD for hauling stuff. Here's mine.

    It's a good strong bridge. I hauled equipment to a job at the airforce base years ago weighing between 110k and 138k gross and the back from the job. The ferry system was a no go because it was all oversize. They don't allow oversize if there is a road to get there.

    It's tied to the roof rack with decent rope. The only risk is to the interior of the vehicle. It's not heavy enough to come through the seats in any survivable crash. It won't fall out. Some people need to make do with what they have.
