I've gotten better pictures to try and show where the wire is coming from. It's not from the battery, it's off of the harness that goes to the starter. This is the view with the drivers seat removed: In the background, you can see the starter with the positive cable connected to it: Here...

Resistance from mystery cable to positive battery cable (with battery disconnected) shows open circuit. Resistance from mystery cable to negative battery cable (with battery disconnected) shows .3 ohms.

I will check resistance later today. Regarding the wire in question, the starter is in the background of that picture - so that wire is coming from the harness going to the starter. I can see the big ground wire on the starter housing - I'm not sure where my loose wire goes.

I don't know where that ground should go. If someone could look - that may be a good starting point.

I need a speed sensor for my early gen toolcat. There are backordered from Bobcat and AGA Truck parts claim they can one in about a month. Has anyone dealt with them before?

I just fixed this on my machine - check the resistance of the solenoids to find which one is shorted to ground. You should be able to just turn off all wheel steer instead of unplugging the switch.

Long story short (after switching attachments on different machines, etc) turns out the attachment side 7pin had a loose connection. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I'm not an expert but here is what I know about the 7 pin: Yes, the 7 pin setup operates off of a CAN bus system (and is one of the reasons bobcat attachments are so expensive, b/c you need a controller to interpret the CAN bus signals vs something like a 14 pin connector that just fires 12v)...

Can you post up a picture of it? I was using voltmeter to see if 12v was getting there it was, now it isn't. I think harness, wire or controller on attachment.

Thanks, it's both the rotate AND the chute height adjustment that doesn't work. But the auger engagement does work.

Again, I took the head to shop before reassembly. They checked it for cracks and didn't find anything.

This is interesting. I ordered new head bolts. When I disassemble it I'll take some pictures and check close.

In this case, when the engine gets to operating temp. something isn't holding. Head was checked by a reputable shop. I'm open to other ideas but I think new head gasket, new bolts and see what happens.

I did not. I was told they could be reused. The manual I have states torque to 68.7 to 72.3 ft/lbs. I thought you needed new head bolts if you torque and then turn X degrees. I'll probably order new ones.
