    New garage time!

My 48v battery has a 200a bms, which means 10kw potential. That's a lot of juice. I could hold a 2kw generator to charge battery, then go to inverter, then to run pretty much anything.

    New garage time!

This is useful. I'm working on the solar racking and I can put the welder in the cart and drive where ever I need without lugging it around. I want to install an inverter so that I can power it right from the cart.

I cleared a little track to take the kid on in the cart. I thought it was pretty flat, but I was wrong. I also learned that I desperately need new shocks. Fortunately all new shocks is only about $70 on amazon.

Weed wacker - extending string life

I've learned not to flinch when stuff hits me doing my welding in flip flops. Hot embers hitting my feet, legs, arms, and shoulders used to make me flinch. Sure there are going to be some burns but they're pretty small and don't last.

It's not that they get dull, they get short, since they're plastic they wear down. Also those worried about safety, I weedwack in flip flops, and in 5 years never had one come off. Their locking mechanism is solid.

Weed wacker - extending string life

I've got the 3 yellow blades on my weedwacker, I change them maybe once or twice a year. They're cheap and last a really long time unless i'm hitting something like concrete.

    New garage time!

What used to be 5 trips hauling 50lb bags on my shoulders, or 3 trips with the wheelbarrow over uneven ground, or going to the back to get hte kubota and put 5 bags in hte loader, to move 250lb chicken feed 75 yards, is now tossing 5 bags in the back of the cart and driving over.

I was putting the doors back on the cart, i left one hand go to drop the pin in. It slipped. Right onto my big toe. Right where the nail comes out. Fortunately i was wearing flip flops and could make a quick assessment of the damage. Lots of blood nail is black, broke the skin under it.

It has doors with windows that open, but I had them off to make it easier to work on. Fully enclosed cab was a requirement due to rain/snow. My primary use case will be hauling 5-7 bags of chicken feed at a time, rather than carrying one bag on my shoulders 50 yards from feed storage to the...

Actually it was, and about 2x the runtime from what people are saying. And more power. And since LFP's voltage curve is almost flat, you get full power for the entire duration of the battery, it doesn't get weak towards the end. I put on socks for welding. Didn't want to burn my feet. My box...

Now that 3 batteries are online, and a 4th top balancing, I can take some time to get more inverters hooked up. Got 2 more inverters nearly done. Cables run, ends crimped, heat shrink on. It almost looks professional. I hate how the negative lug is behind the pv wires though.

    New garage time!

3 packs totaling 45kwh are in opperation, and the 4th pack is built and just about ready to start charging. I have space for 2 more packs at the top, but I'm going to see how this does me for now. Once it's done, I'll start working on getting the other inverters online.
  53. F

    New garage time!

So I went to the pack and checked it with multimeter and it is checking at 3.63v, so something is wrong with the bms or crimped end or ring terminal that's creating resistance. I'm going to take it off and redo it.
  54. F

    New garage time!

Just finished top balancing pack 3, hooked everything up and all the cells are dead on, except cell 1, which is a bit lower. I'm wondering if it's the draw of powering the bms that's lowering that specific cell. I don't recall this happening on the previous packs.

Apply compression, while allowing room for expansion. As the cells charge, gasses form inside, causing bloating. This causes the cells to expand in the middle. This is bad. 100. F

    New garage time!

In person cash price for the 15kwh packs is $1200. Which is super cheap compared to buying premade packs. If they’re lifepo4 cells taking them from 100 to 0 is totally ok. I’m starting with 45x240w panels but I’m going to put another 90 on the garage roof. That should put me completely off grid.

So apparently cell compression is super important and relevant to getting the claimed cycles out of the cells. Between 3000-7000 newtons. So wrapping cells in kapton tape looks like it's not going to be enough. So I reached out to hoover to get some 3/8" aluminum plate and all-thread. I...

Yes, this will be an off grid setup. There's 2 types, grid-tie, and off-grid. Grid tie connects to the grid and feeds back into the grid your excess solar production. Off-grid charges batteries. I have one battery pack, which I'm building now. It's 15kwh and the battery management system is...
