I own a smaller "quiet" compressor from HF. It works very well and is quiet enough to talk over without really raising your voice. My wife didn't even realize it was running when we used it while working on the chicken coop build.

When/if I use it with my Mahindra 1538 I would probably not drop the backhoe to attach it. If the ATV could pull it there wouldn't be a reason to. Also, the ATV may just have the job by itself. With mud tires I put on for snow plowing it is very good at towing and things and has a lot of traction.

I have also used the backhoe as a counterweight when I need to drive across a hillside and have the downhill side outrigger lowered close to the ground when it seems sketchy. Figured it can't hurt and it makes crossing one sketchy stretch less intimidating.

I can't say for certain it would work for yours but you might be able to buy a Kubota bucket. I purchased a used Mahindra 1538 and it came with a spare trenching bucket. I found the receipt for that bucket from a Kubota dealer inside the manual.
