I haven't been on in awhile and forgot I had posted this :-/ Update: We were so Blessed to have the KTAC insurance! That is correct - they do not offer HST. The hydraulic shuttle is very smooth and you have a F-N-R lever to the left of the steering wheel. As long as you are in the right gear for the work you are doing, changing from F to R is a simple operation.

    M6040 Cab

Since that post of mine on 5-25-06, I bought a L5030 Cab. While deciding, I drove an M7040 Cab. WOW!! I knew I didn't need a tractor that large, but the seat alone made the cab version of the M series my favorite drive of everything I test drove (about 6 different tractors).

    PURCHASE TIME KUBOTA/NEW HOLLAND

I have a friend who owns a 1978 equivalent of the MX5000. He's never had a problem with it, brags on it just like I would brag on mine. Of course, you are asking in a Kubota forum. I have never owned a NH. We're all different, but I just hate the looks of those white wheels set against that...

    kubota M7040 or NH TN75

I have no doubt both are fine tractors. I drove the M7040 (also M6040) recently. My only thought is do not drive the cab model M7040 unless you are ready to buy a cab model! I almost bought more tractor than I need because of that cab, particularly the seat - unbelievable comfort. Terry

Assume your residential 'Bota is insured?

Same here. I just purchased the L5030. I called my insurance agent from the tractor dealership to verify the coverage. Of course, he reminded me that we might need to look at my policy and raise the coverage amount for my property (this may actually be true - I need to find out), but...

I did it! M6040 is all mine!

What size/type/brand/weight box blade do you have attached? That should provide some ballast. My box blade is only 600 lbs. (is your box blade the 600 lbs you refer to?) so I need to figure the best way to add weight to it for extra ballast for FEL. I hated to pay the extra $$ for a 1000 lb...

    Box Blade Question

That is probably the Land Pride model that weighs in at 600+ lbs. If you are looking for one to pull rocks and/or use often as ballast for loader, that's probably a good weight. It will cost you that much (or close anyway) as will a Woods of similar build and weight. I have a Woods 72" that...

Rotary Cutter Looking for a New Brush Cutter

I have the Woods BB720. I have only used it once for about six acres of really tall grass. In doing the initial cut, my goal was to knock it down enough to see the rocks that need to be removed, but not cut low enough to hit them! It did a great job cutting set to about 8-9 inches (didn't...

    what a dealer

Congrats on the new tractor and the great service! I must live fairly close to you. I have a Crane, MO address - actually live closer to the little town of Hurley. I am about a mile from the James River. I work south of here (also recently move to MO from Arkansas) so most of my price checks...

Largest Rotary Cutter used with BX?

I made the mistake (in my previous post) of not asking if you have a loader for your tractor. If not, I would not try a larger cutter unless you plan to keep it on the ground at all times just dragging it on the tail wheel. If you have some type of guard on the front of the tractor to mount...

Largest Rotary Cutter used with BX?

If it is a light weight unit, you might manage to cut with it, but I would not recommend it. I have the BX22. I have a 4 ft med duty hog, 500 lbs., 45 hp gearbox, 11 ga. thickness. It is a Fred Cain Agri-Cutter model AC-104. It is a perfect match for the BX. I have never had an issue with...

L5030 cab vs new M series

I'm no haying expert, but I would say you could cut and rake with the M5040, but probably not bale. I would go for the M7040 at the minimum if you plan on that. Also, I would seek advice in the Ag Forum here from those that know the haying process much better than I do. It's a shame there are...

    New B7610

Congratulations on the new tractor - just got mine this week also! It is definitely a relief to finally make a choice and just do it! It may even be more relief to my wife as I had gotten to point of researching this thing constantly rather than taking care of as many honey-do's ! Thankfully...

L5030 cab vs new M series

If you are not doing any haying, it will be enough for your use. I just purchased one for some of the same uses as you, but don't have as much property. Your dealer may not have one, but the M5040 Cab would be a close price to the L5030 cab. That gives you a larger frame, heavier duty loader...

    kubota cab/ headliner cleaning

I just bought a Cab model L5030. After about 6 hours cutting brush, I realized how dirty the glass was getting. I then realized I now have MORE glass to clean . . . cleaning windshields, windows, mirrors is a real pain to me. It seems impossible to do it without streaking the glass! Oh...

    Rookie looking for guidance

GrandL or new M series If you are working mostly in the open, I would consider the new M series. The L5030 is smaller, not as tall (especially the cab model), so you can maneuver better in tighter areas with lower limbs. Otherwise, the M series is very impressive, especially the cab model...

    Box Blade or Rear Blade

The rear blade will probably not provide much ballast as they are very light - same with landscape rake. Both are very useful for leveling prepared soil, especially with guage wheels as has been mentioned. But, for ballast and digging to level out areas, the box blade is far superior. Terry
