Tractor
Massey Ferguson 1533
OK. I'm planting 20 acres of pine this winter so my bushhogging just got cut by 3/4. I now can buy smaller (30-35 hp) instead of larger (40+ hp). Loader work not heavy enough for larger tractor. Got a good financing deal on a MF 1533 w/FEL. Have a good deal on L3430 w/FEL. I have been a Kubota fan all along,... BUT MF kinda impressed me. Seemed more comfortable. Priced about $1000 less than Kubota. I know the MF 1533 is more comparable to the L3130. Help me out, should I stay orange or go red. I lurked here a while before I signed in so I know you guys can help me. And all the prices I have within 80 miles are within $500 for MF 1533 and L3130 with L3430 about $1000 more. Gonna do something in less than 12 hours.

Wow take a deep breath one step back just like John Wayne used to in all his Cowboy movies partner. Ask both Dealers for a demo before you jump into this kind of debt. I'm not in favor taking either side but the Dealer who says yes to a demo on your land is who I would go with from a service standpoint. Most small Dealers rely on their sales force to handle service issues on their sales anyway. This little Massey you are talking about is nice but what do I know I own six orange ones...

You say you have been a Kubota fan all along. You may be dissapointed with anything else. You may always think what if.

On the other hand I grew up around John Deere farm equipment. Thats all my family has. I looked at Kubotas and was very impressed. I also figured out that a JD and Kubota equally equiped, in the 70hp range, are priced about $7K different. I bought a Kubota and have not looked back after 2 months and 50 hrs.

What ever tractor you feel the best about is the one you should buy. I believe they will perform, as a tool, equally.

Thanks for the replies. I bought the Massey. Tractor just felt and fit better to me. I guess ergonomics won me over, and it has done everything I asked it too in the few days I've had it.

I do however think Kubotas are bulletproof and a very good machine. Dad's got one and it's never missed a lick even with me borrowing it.

Again, thanks for the help.

Red would have been my second choice but I under why you did it and Massey has a good network of folks behind their products. Massey has feed Americans for decades and will continue to be a favorite. My age group ( baby boomers) wouldn't be so beat up if we'd had ergonomically designed equipment through the years and one last thing old man time waits on no one so enjoy your Dad with his Kubota while you still have him.
