'24/'25 Mahindra 1126 with FEL, belly mower and mid PTO front mount snow blower

The concept of a tractor doing grass mowing, snow blowing and fel work has always been a misguided one imo. One has not only be wired for patience of exchanging these implements but also have the physical prowess to be able to do so. Sales hype is one thing, practicality is still another but...

'24/'25 Mahindra 1126 with FEL, belly mower and mid PTO front mount snow blower

Unless you’re keeping a belly mower on, best just to get a dedicated cutter. A 60” belly mower from Mahindra is around 3k. For $1500 more, you get a nice zero turn with 60” cut. Even a 42” zero turn will cut faster than the tractor with the 60” and then you’re only $500 more.

Just got this Yanmar 1610D and tiller today!

Make sure your pto shaft is the correct length. Raised all the way, there should be no binding of that shaft as it should not be wedged between the tiller and the tractor. I feel you are putting too much credence on tread type. Turfs are very good in snow because it is not the tread that grips snow. It is the snow on the tire that grips snow. Once you add temps above freezing, no tread will do better than chains. Any tire will do you as from your driveway...

The purpose of the baffles on a mulch kit, is to keep the grass contained in an area so as to be repeatedly cut by the blades thus making the residual smaller. Grass indeed can get stuck in the passageways, underneath the mulch collars and eventual exits as these pieces become finer and finer.

  90. A

What machine, or equipment, can mow an uneven grassy pasture the fastest? Zero Turn?

We cut pastures in Kentucky on a 30 animal horse farm. They are about 120 acres total. Not all groomed. I use a 10’ cutter deck with the horses keeping it down quite a bit. Pastures range in size from 5 acres - 20. Because it’s a breeding/foaling farm, pastures are rotated so some get to 18”...

What machine, or equipment, can mow an uneven grassy pasture the fastest? Zero Turn?

From what I’ve seen, zero turns and pastures are not a good mix. Zts are meant for lawns. The best tool for cutting rough pastures is a brush hog. If you want to do it faster, get a larger width cutting deck.

So basically you have a 20 yr old tractor and about a 30 yr old tractor to choose from. Sell them both and with the proceeds from these sales, use the money as a down payment for a new machine. Life’s too short to keep nursing and chasing parts for old machines imo.

7' Tiller on a Smaller Tractor

You wouldn’t need the tiller to cover tracks if you space rows. A 4’ tiller would make one pass between the tires then space out your next row so the rear tire is just at the previously tilled row’s edge. This also creates a work path between rows.

Struggling with MX5400 purchase — could get MX6000 for same price. What would you do?

The 5400 can be had with gears equating to the tractive power any additional hp the 6000 provides. Plus, most tractors lose traction before hp advantages. The additional hp usually equates to more fuel and air in a combustion engine.
