No yanmar tractor dealers around me hard to beat the cash price I received on a 21 hp RK with deck and loader. Pretty familiar maintaining and working on the yanmar 3 gm 24- 30f auxiliary sail boat engines. Still have a 15 yr old repair manual for them lol. I can say from my experiences with smaller yanmar marine diesel engines they work good, fairly easy to work on and are very reliable. I'd take a yanmar over a universal or other small marine diesel. Pretty confident a yanmar for a tractor engine will be similar. Which is in smaller tym and subsequently rk. Pics to follow on this thread with short unbiased initial review once I pick it up in a few weeks.

Yanmar is the father of the small diesel engine.
They’ve been building them since 1937.
Most other Japanese small diesels such as Yamaha, Mitsubishi and Kawasaki to name a few, use that design as their blueprint.

I've had three Yanmar engines, and in fact one of my JD tractors was made entirely by Yanmar. All of the engines have been completely trouble-free, never had to do anything beyond regular fluid changes... knock on wood!

I look forward to photos, and more importantly, your thoughts on the little RK.

If you worked on boats or sail yourself some folks that classify themselves as sailors might be inc lined to splurge on a new full batten sobstad main or jenny (Genoa) but gawd forbid they bother to change fuel filters or even check the dipstick on there auxillary propulsion. Lol , yanmars in my experiences and opinion will and have taken a beating mostly due to owner neglect and occasionally to my surprise, still start and run decently. Snow drift.

I am a sailor, but racing dinghies only, these days. No marine motors, anymore. 😀

Lol as I settled down I became a fairweather sailor mostly pleasure boater at best of the tri and pontoon variety. Found its probably the safest way to get young kids on the water.

I bought an RS Zest to teach my kids to sail. Daughter loves it, but doesn't have time for it anymore, due to other activities. Son never really took to it.
