    Trailer Tarp--Budget Conscious

Awesome! This setup is a bit different from kits that use a pair of ball bearings to roll up the tarp where mine just uses the sideboards as rails to roll and unroll. The front of the tarp is secured to the front board with clips like shown below but could be done by other means...

    Trailer Tarp--Budget Conscious

The reel is made of 1-1/2" (approx 1-3/4" OD) steel EMT (ElectroMechanicalTubing) with a 1/4" slit nibbled lengthwise to capture one end of the tarp. The gray parts are 3D Printed ABS and the "hubs" are pressed into the ends of the EMT. In use the tarp is unrolled back over the trailer...

    Leveling Control--Anyone familiar with this?

The ad says "no GPS or line of sight". Makes we wonder if its "precisely" measuring barometric pressure to detect changes in elevation and digital level measurement for reporting angles. Drones use barometric pressure to report altitude but I wouldn't think accurate to 1" of elevation.

    Flow Control on Well Head

Spent some time yesterday adjusting the flow control on each zone valve opening up until just enough pressure to operate the sprinkler heads on the zone. Flow Control on Well Head

Yes, the pressure gauge is just next to and downstream from the manual ball valve. My target has been 40psi as that seems to let the well keep up. Probably talking to myself here but that's okay. We have some interesting conversations and argue only on occasion. I suppose what happens, even with the time delay, is it takes maybe 20 seconds or so to refill the pvc lines going to the sprinklers in the zone called for and the pump cant...

    Flow Control on Well Head

Ok, tried a delay setting of four seconds between pump and zone valve but, with ball valve set to show 40psi downstream, the other zone valves failed to close completely so couldn't build pressure in system. The 40psi minimum to avoid over taxing the well is apparently not enough to keep the...

    Flow Control on Well Head

Yes, in essence, I'm trying for the 9gpm that you mention to just stay within the well's current output capability. It's a fine line, however, between that and not having enough flow to maintain adequate pressure to keep the rest of the zone valves shut tight and operate all the heads on a...

I'm thinking that this might let the pump...

    Flow Control on Well Head

That seems to make sense and might work. I'm beginning to think that my problem is that the six 1" zone valves are too large and that I should have gone with 3/4" or even 1/2" size. I say this because the 10GPM that I'm trying to achieve doesn't generate enough pressure to keep all the valves...

    Flow Control on Well Head

Yeah, a flow control is probably the answer and that is what I've been using, it's just not precise enough with the 1" ball valve. It gets a bit confusing thinking about how the number and nozzle sizes of the sprinklers on each zone and trying to regulate the flow. One of the zones has only...

Ok, I see what you're saying. I think it would be best to have no hoses permanently attached to the SSQA cylinder, only quick couplers. Then, when using the grapple, there could be no transfer of oil between rod and piston ends of the cylinder.

    Cost of deep wells ???

Our well was drilled next to the house in '76 to a depth of 31 feet and we've been using it for lawn irrigation at about 10 GPM ever since. I don't remember the cost but if it was over a thousand or two we would not have been able to afford it. The driller hit a rock at 31 feet.

    "Chrome hydraulic cylinder rods?

But I'm wondering why a nitrided rod would have more tendency to break? Its as if the nitriding process creates microscopic stress risers in the rod surface. I am still, however, wondering about hydrogen embrittlement of the rod surface which is what some plating operations produce.

Is there any way to slow down 3PH?

I've not heard of a 3PH with speed control on the upstroke, only the down stroke. I don't think there would be any place to install a restrictor for the up stroke as most tractors have internal plumbing for the 3PH.

    "Chrome hydraulic cylinder rods?

    Lathe Motor Amperage Rating

Yes, I would have to agree. But looking at the three phase Leeson motor above, it shows only 3.2 amp on 230 VAC for 1.0 HP. Is there that much difference between single and three phase amp draw?
  120. npalen

    Lathe Motor Amperage Rating

Yes, when you figure 1.0 HP as 0.75 KW and then do the math, the 15 or 16 amps does seem high but then again my understanding is that a 1.0 to 1.5 HP motor is about all that a 120VAC 20AMP circuit will normally handle. Attached is the nameplate of the motor I'm looking at using:

npalen, what would you do with your ssqa hoses when you have a grapple mounted that needs the third function. I wouldn't have any extra hoses on the SSQA so the hoses from the 3RD function would plug into the grapple or the SSQA where and when needed. Another option would be to run the SSQA...
