    HF Icon vs. Pittsburgh line

Icon tool remind me a lot of Snap and Proto "professional" tools of years past. Pittsburg pliers, screwdriver, and crescent wrenches aren't very good but, the other stuff in generally pretty good for homeowner use or limited farm needs. Fine tools like hex wrenches will work but, they aren't...

My Stupidity kicked in at full throttle.

https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=pulley+puller This is apt to cause a lot less damage. That much heat on a tractor that small is apt to cause a lot of damage to the drive line.

My Stupidity kicked in at full throttle.

Yes, a great way to cause oil leaks as well as expensive damage to repair. A bit of grease on the shaft and yoke works really well for me. If I can't lever off a stuck pto with a big screwdriver, it is time to go to plan B which doesn't include brute force or a hammer. It is amazing how many...

"AGM Car" batteries for less used tractors?

AGM's typically don't have corrosion because they don't off-gas much, if any at all. Lead Acid batteries, even the really good ones, off gas due to the charge cycles.

Thanks everyone! It sounds like an AGM battery with a proper charger to maintain it is what I need and what I want. The NOCO chargers are what I normally use today and should serve me well with these AGM batteries.

"AGM Car" batteries for less used tractors?

In my youth, cheap Walmart type batteries had a short life and high failure rate. Sears Diehard batteries were better, were twice as expensive, and did not last twice as long. The Caterpillar road grader battery I put in my car lasted until it was totalled many years later. Contrary to what...

How does a NOCO battery charger "desulfate" the battery?

Depends on the batteries and the charger. A few kilowatts of solar panels on a 48V storage bank of large lead acid batteries that were maintained with water and acid as needed during their life ran 8 years of high duty cycle off-grid before storage capacity started falling. We are talking...

"AGM Car" batteries for less used tractors?

I have a pair of Kubota tractors that don't get frequent use so, now that their batteries are at the "end of life", I am thinking about replacements. You will want to make sure the frame and skirts are built to rotary mower specs so it doesn't wear out quickly. Just because it may have a stump jumper doesn't mean it won't bend or break when you hit something hidden in your pasture.

Personally, I wouldn't use a finish mower in a pasture. Damage and wear and tear will be really high if it is in fact a finish mower. That's why the 4' rotary mower (aka Bush Hog) is on my B2601 currently.

Older tractors are pretty forgiving generally.
