Smaller CAT diesels, like the C-7 have been a disappointment. I don't know what the mystique is with people wanting a CAT diesel in a pickup. Small diesels aren't CAT's niche.
I'll take my DMAX or 5.9L Cummins in small truck, and a DT466 or a 8.3L Cummins in a medium truck any day over anything made by CAT.
I don't think CAT even uses a CAT engine in their CAT backhoes. They use a Perkins diesel (owned by CAT). Then they put a CAT badge on the Perkins diesel.
Try a Duramax diesel sometime. Paired up with a 6 speed Allison, a 11.5" true locking rear a great powertrain warranty, it's an unbeatable drivetrain combination.
